This chapter tells about the man, Naaman, who had leprosy who Elisha told to dipin the Jordan river 7 times and was cured. 6 An iron axhead fell into the water and Elisha made it float so it could be rescued. v 18 As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, "Strike these people with blindness." So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked. There was a great famine in Samaria and canibalism.
Day 185 --- 2 Kings 9-11 (read 5/25/2009) 2 Kings 9 Jehu becomes King of Israel. Jezebel is killed and dogs devour her all except her skull, feet and hands. 10 Jehu destroyed Baal (the idol) and all the people that worshiped him. They burned the stone of Baal and used it as a toilet. 11 Athaliah's son was dead so she began to kill all of the royal family. Jehosheba, daughter of King Jehoram took Joash, a royal prince and hid him. When he was 7 years old, he became king. Athaliah was killed. All of Baal was destroyed.
Day 186 --- 2 Kings 12-13 (read 5/25/2009) 2 Kings 12. Tells of the line of kings. Joash had the temple repaired. 2 Kings 13 Elisha died.
2 Chronicles 24 (read 5/25/2009) 21 But they plotted against him, and by order of the king they stoned him to death in the courtyard of the LORD's temple. 22 King Joash did not remember the kindness Zechariah's father Jehoiada had shown him but killed his son, who said as he lay dying, "May the LORD see this and call you to account."
Day 187 --- 2 Kings 14 - 2 Chronicles 25 (read 5/25/2009) Tells more about the same as 24.
Day 188 --- Jonah 1-4 (read 5/25/2009) ch1 The Lord told Jonah to go preach to Nineveh, a city that was wicked. Jonah ran from the Lord and caught a ship. He told the other sailors that he was running from this service to the Lord. A great wind came and tossed the boat about and scared the crew. They cast lots to see who was responsible for making such a storm on them. It turned up that Jonah was responsible. They asked Jonah to get up and and call on his god so that he might not let them die. They asked Jonah what to do to make the sea calm down. He told them to throw him in. They held off as long as they could but ended up throwing him in. A large fish came and swallowed Jonah. He was inside the fish for 3 days and 3 nights. ch2 From inside the fish, Jonah prayed and the Lord commanded the fish to vomit Jonah onto dry land. ch3. The Lord told Jonah to go to Neneveh. Jonah told them 40 days till destruction. They turned from their evil ways and God had compassion on them and didn't destroy them. ch4 Jonah was angry. and went to sit in a spot and see what the Lord would do. God made a vine grow overnight, and it shaded Jonah. Then he made a worm eat the vine and the sun blazed on his head. God explained to Jonah that since he had been concerned about the vine, that God should be concerned about something as big as a city.
Finishes Jonah
Day 189 --- 2 Kings 15 - 2 Chronicles 26 (read 6/9/2009) Tells the names of all the kings of Israel, In some instances, how they became king, how long they were king, whether they did good or evil in the eyes of the Lord, what happened during their reign, when they died and where they were buried and who followed them as king. 2 Chronicles 26 tells about Uzziah, the king who was plagued with leprosy because he became prideful and even though Aaron's descendents were the only ones allowed to burn inscense in the inscense alter, Uzziah burned it anyway.
Day 190 --- Isaiah 1-4 (read 7/16/2009) 1:17 learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow. The Day of the Lord 6 You have abandoned your people, the house of Jacob. ch 2: They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and clasp hands with pagans. ch 3 9 The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. (this reminds me of gay pride in 2009) Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.v:10 9 The look on their faces testifies against them; they paradetheir sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves 3:16 The LORD says, "The women of Zion are haughty, walking along with outstretched necks, flirting with their eyes, tripping along with mincing steps, with ornaments jingling on their ankles. 17 Therefore the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the women of Zion; the LORD will make their scalps bald."
Day 191 --- Isaiah 5-8 (read 7/16/2009) Ch 5 v11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine. 12 They have harps and lyres at their banquets, tambourines and flutes and wine, but they have no regard for the deeds of the LORD, no respect for the work of his hands v 19 to those who say, "Let God hurry, let him hasten his work so we may see it. Let it approach,
let the plan of the Holy One of Israel come, so we may know it." v 20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light
and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. v21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
and clever in their own sight. 22 Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, CH 7 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel ch 8 13 The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread, v19 When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?
Day 192 --- Amos 1-5 (read July 20, 2009) tells how punish Israel for her sins. 21 "I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies. 22 Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, [b] I will have no regard for them. 23 Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. (He talks about the people who do religious things, then treat others in a wrong way.)
Day 193 Amos 6-9 (read July 20, 2009) Amos 8 v9 "In that day," declares the Sovereign LORD, "I will make the sun go down at noon and darken the earth in broad daylight. 10 I will turn your religious feasts into mourning and all your singing into weeping. I will make all of you wear sackcloth and shave your heads. I will make that time like mourning for an only son and the end of it like a bitter day. (to me: sounds like the holocost)Amos 9 14 I will bring back my exiled [g] people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. 15 I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them," says the LORD your God (to me, his definately sounds like the end of the holocost)
Finished Amos
Day 194 --- Isaiah 9-12 - 2 Chronicles 27 (read July 21,2009) Isaiah 9 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, [b] Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (the prophecy of Jesus)Isaiah 11 6 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling [a] together; and a little child will lead them.2 Chronicles 276 Jotham reigned and grew powerful because he walked steadfastly before the LORD his God
Day 195 --- Micah 1-7 (read July 21,2009) Micah 2 v1 Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning's light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it. v2 They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them. They defraud a man of his home, a fellowman of his inheritance. v3 Therefore, the LORD says: "I am planning disaster against this people, from which you cannot save yourselves. You will no longer walk proudly, for it will be a time of calamity. v9 You drive the women of my people from their pleasant homes. You take away my blessing from their children forever. Micah 3 v11 Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they lean upon the LORD and say, "Is not the LORD among us? No disaster will come upon us." Micah 4 v1 In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. v2 Many nations will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. v3 He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Micah 5 v12 I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells.v13 I will destroy your carved images and your sacred stones from among you; you will no longer bow down to the work of your hands. Micah 6 v8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Finished Micha
Day 196 --- 2 Kings 16-17 - 2 Chronicles 28 (read July 27, 2009) 2 Kings 16 1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remaliah, Ahaz son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign. 2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. Unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the LORD his God. (hmmmm...so God let there be evil rulers even to his own chozen people...so who are we to not have an evil ruler every now and then?) 2 Kings 17 16 They bowed down to all the starry hosts, and they worshiped Baal. 17 They sacrificed their sons and daughters in [c] the fire. They practiced divination and sorcery and sold themselves to do evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger. 35 When the LORD made a covenant with the Israelites, he commanded them "Do not worship any other gods or bow down to them, serve them or sacrifice to them. 36 But the LORD, who brought you up out of Egypt with mighty power and outstretched arm, is the one you must worship.39 Rather, worship the LORD your God; it is he who will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies." 40 They would not listen, however, but persisted in their former practices. 41 Even while these people were worshiping the LORD, they were serving their idols.
Day 197 --- Isaiah 13-17 (read July 27, 2009)Isaiah 13 ch1 An oracle concerning Babylon that Isaiah son of Amoz saw v19 Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms, the glory of the Babylonians' pride, will be overthrown by God like Sodom and Gomorrah. ch14 v22 "I will rise up against them," declares the LORD Almighty. "I will cut off from Babylon her name and survivors, her offspring and descendants," declares the LORD. 23 "I will turn her into a place for owls and into swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of destruction," declares the LORD Almighty.ch15 v1 An oracle concerning Moab: Ar in Moab is ruined, destroyed in a night! Kir in Moab is ruined, destroyed in a night! ch17 v1 An oracle concerning Damascus: "See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins.
Day 198 --- Isaiah 18-22 (Read July 29, 2009)
Day 199 --- Isaiah 23-27 (Read Oct 16, 2009) Isaiah 24 The LORD's Devastation of the Earth C.25 12 He will bring down your high fortified walls and lay them low; he will bring them down to the ground, to the very dust. c 36 v5 He humbles those who dwell on high, he lays the lofty city low; he levels it to the ground and casts it down to the dust. c 26 v10 Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and regard not the majesty of the LORD
Day 200 --- 2 Kings 18:1-8 - 2 Chronicles 29-31 - Psalm 48 (Read October 16, 2009) 2 Kings....re: Hezekiah, did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. He purified the temple and reestablished the service of the temple because the ones before had defiled it. 2 Chronicles c30 Hezekiah sent for the people to come to Jerusalem to celebrate the passover. He asked the people not to be stiff-necked, as their forefathers were. Some scorned but some came. The priests and the Levites were ashamed and consecrated themselves and brought burnt offerings to the temple of the LORD.2 Chronicles c31 20 This is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah, doing what was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God. 21 In everything that he undertook in the service of God's temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered.
Day 201 --- Hosea 1-7 (Read October 21, 2009) Ch4 a people without understanding will come to ruin! Ch 6 For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.
Day 202 --- Hosea 8-14 (Read October 21, 2009) Finishes Hosea
Day 203 --- Isaiah 28-30 (Read November 16,2009) ch 29 v16 (could be an athiest, person who doesn't believe in God maybe? Or someone who does things and thinks know one will ever know "why I did that to my brother") You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, "He did not make me"? Can the pot say of the potter, "He knows nothing"?
20 The ruthless will vanish, the mockers will disappear, and all who have an eye for evil will be cut down- 21 those who with a word make a man out to be guilty, who ensnare the defender in court and with false testimony deprive the innocent of justice.30 v1 "Woe to the obstinate children,"
declares the LORD, "to those who carry out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit, heaping sin upon sin;
America now?-- 30: v10 They say to the seers, "See no more visions!" and to the prophets, "Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions. v11 Leave this way, get off this path, and stop confronting us with the Holy One of Israel!" (?and take down "in Got we trust" and everything that reminds us of HIM??)ch 30 v18 Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion.
For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!
Day 204 --- Isaiah 31-34 (Read November 17,2009)
Day 205 --- Isaiah 35-36 (read November 23, 2009)
Day 206 --- Isaiah 37-39 - Psalm 76 (read November 23, 2009) Is38 tells about Hezikiah's illness and that he was about to die but he prayed and God told he he could have 15 more years added to his life. ch 39 Hexikiah showed some of the travelers from Babalon all of his treasures of his palace. Isaiah's prophesy 6 The time will surely come when everything in your palace, and all that your fathers have stored up until this day, will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD. 7 And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood who will be born to you, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon."
Day 207 --- Isaiah 40-43 (Read November 25, 2009) Isaiah 403 A voice of one calling: "In the desert prepare the way for the LORD [a] ;
make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.
Day 208 --- Isaiah 44-48 (Read February 16, 2010) Tells of how stupid it is to make and worship man made idolsIsaiah 45 9 Does the clay say to the potter, 'What are you making? 48; v22 "There is no peace," says the LORD, "for the wicked."
Day 209 --- 2 Kings 18:9-19:37 - Psalm 46 - Psalm 80 - Psalm 135 (Read March 2, 2010) God changed his minda and let Hezakiah live 15 exta years.
Day 210 --- Isaiah 49-53 (read March 2, 2010) Isaiah 49-6 he says: "It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob
and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth."
26 I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh; they will be drunk on their own blood, as with wine. Then all mankind will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob."CH 51-7 "Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have my law in your hearts: Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults. 22 This is what your Sovereign LORD says, your God, who defends his people:
"See, I have taken out of your hand the cup that made you stagger; from that cup, the goblet of my wrath, you will never drink again. 23 I will put it into the hands of your tormentors, who said to you, 'Fall prostrate that we may walk over you.' And you made your back like the ground, like a street to be walked over."Ch 53 V12 For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Day 211 --- Isaiah 54-58 (read March 6, 2010) Clean living 58:7-11 7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? 8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness [a] will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. 9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. "If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, 10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.11 The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
Day 212 --- Isaiah 59-63 (Read March 7, 2010) 59: 8 The way of peace they do not know; there is no justice in their paths. They have turned them into crooked roads; no one who walks in them will know peace 13 rebellion and treachery against the LORD, turning our backs on our God, fomenting oppression and revolt, uttering lies our hearts have conceived. 14 So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter. 15 Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no justice.
Day 213 --- Isaiah 64-66 (Read March 8, 2010) 64 :6 and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; 7 No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us and made us waste away because of our sins.8 Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. Finishes Isaiah
Day 214 --- 2 Kings 20-21 (read March 09, 2010) Isaiah, the prophet, told Hezekiah to put his house in order because the lord said he was going to die. Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed and wept. The Lord heard and remembered that Hezekiah was a devoted servant so he gave him 15 more years to live. Hezekiah showed the men of Babylon his palace and what he owned. When they had gone, Isaiah asked Hezekiah what he did and Hezekian told Isaiah that he showed the men of Babylon all that he had. Isaiah told him that they would steal everything from him even his sons and that his sons would be made eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. Manasseh became king after Hezekiah when he was 12 years old. He brought back the idols and alters to idols. he built altars to all the starry hosts. 6 He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced sorcery and divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger.Manasseh led the Israelites astray, so that they did more evil than the nations the LORD had destroyed before the Israelites. Amon was Manasseh's son and became king, he did evil too. Then he was assassinated and his son Josiah succeeded him as king.
Day 215 --- 2 Chronicles 32-33 (read March 15,2010) 33 again says the Manasseh did evil. 5 In both courts of the temple of the LORD, he built altars to all the starry hosts. 6 He sacrificed his sons in [d] the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced sorcery, divination and witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger. (I put these notes of evil in so that I may learn not to do what provokes God to anger)
Day 216 --- Nahum 1-3 (read March 16, 2010) The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished. The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him, Celebrate your festivals, O Judah and fulfill your vows. No more will the wicked invade you; they will be completely destroyed. Finishes Naham

Day 220 --- Jeremiah 4-6 (read april 5, 20100 v18 "Yet even in those days," declares the LORD, "I will not destroy you completely. 19 And when the people ask, 'Why has the LORD our God done all this to us?' you will tell them, 'As you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your own land, so now you will serve foreigners in a land not your own.
Day 221 --- Jeremiah 7-9 (read April 6, 2010) ch 8 v2 They will be exposed to the sun and the moon and all the stars of the heavens, which they have loved and served and which they have followed and consulted and worshiped.10 From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit. 11 They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. "Peace, peace," they say, when there is no peace. ch 9 8 With his mouth each speaks cordially to his neighbor, but in his heart he sets a trap for him. 12 What man is wise enough to understand this? Who has been instructed by the LORD and can explain it? Why has the land been ruined and laid waste like a desert that no one can cross? 13 The LORD said, "It is because they have forsaken my law, which I set before them; they have not obeyed me or followed my law. 14 Instead, they have followed the stubbornness of their hearts; they have followed the Baals, as their fathers taught them." 15 Therefore, this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: "See, I will make this people eat bitter food and drink poisoned water.
Day 222 --- Jeremiah 10-13 (Read April 7, 2010) Jeremiah 10 3 For the customs of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.
4 They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter. (Christmas tree???) 10 But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. When he is angry, the earth trembles; the nations cannot endure his wrath. Jeremiah's Prayer; 23 I know, O LORD, that a man's life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps. 24 Correct me, LORD, but only with justi not in your anger, lest you reduce me to nothing.Jeremiah 12 1 You are always righteous, O LORD, when I bring a case before you. Yet I would speak with you about your justice: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease? 2 You have planted them, and they have taken root; they grow and bear fruit. You are always on their lips but far from their hearts 6 Your brothers, your own family— even they have betrayed you; they have raised a loud cry against you. Do not trust them, though they speak well of you.
Day 223 --- Jeremiah 14-17 (Read April 9.2010) Jeremiah 14 9 You are among us, O LORD, and we bear your name; do not forsake us! 15: 21 "I will save you from the hands of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the cruel."
Day 224 --- Jeremiah 18-22 (Read May 17, 2010)
Day 225 --- Jeremiah 23-25 (Read May 17, 2020) Prophets and dream interpreters: Jeremiah 23 :25 "I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in my name. They say, 'I had a dream! I had a dream!' 26 How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds? 27 They think the dreams they tell one another will make my people forget my name, just as their fathers forgot my name through Baal worship. 28 Let the prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?" declares the LORD. 29 "Is not my word like fire," declares the LORD, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces? 30 "Therefore," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me. 31 Yes," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare, 'The LORD declares.' 32 Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams," declares the LORD. "They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least," declares the LORD.

With their backs toward the temple of the LORD and their faces toward the east, they were bowing down to the sun in the east. 17 He said to me, "Have you seen this, son of man?
