  • I Believe

    Two years ago, a friend, in her blog, asked the question, "What do you believe?"  I answered and typed here exactly what was in my heart. I've been working on this for 3 days.

    This is what I believe:

    I celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. I have a tree that I put up in the living room, with a star at the top. The star symbolizes the star that led the wise men to the birthplace of Jesus. Sometimes I put an angel at the top that symbolizes the angels divine messages to the shepherds the night Christ was born. My tree represents the humble stable where Jesus was born. The lights and ornaments are there to represent the sparkling night sky and gifts that the Wise men brought to the newborn King. I look at the gifts under my tree, that Santa brings and the ones we give each other, as representing the gift that God gave us, His Son. More precious than any gift that could be given. (and it was given to me ) Have you opened your gift yet? You got one too! It's just like mine!

    I didn't read this anywhere, this is just how I have thought of my Christmas tree and Santa for a long time. I've been condemned for having a tree and Santa (you know you can spell Satan with the letters in Santa , they say), but it has always been tied in with the greatest gift for as long as I can remember, before these people switched the letters around. So my Christmas tree stays and Santa too. Nobody in my immediate family is greedy. Christmas presents are optional. Then on Christmas Eve, I use to go to Church and watch little children in a Christmas play, usually about the nativity. That was a gift in itself. My family, friends and I give and recieve gifts to and from each other (the kids do anyway)...which symbolizes love that we feel for each other, which is the closest thing that I know to the love God gave us, his Son, our Saviour. (Only he loves us more than we love our own family. My God how can that be? But it is.)

    An angel appeared to Mary, a virgin, and told her she would concieve and bare a son and to name him Jesus. She was engaged to a good man named Joseph.  The angel also appeared to Joseph and told him too. Joseph and Mary traveled to Bethlehem to pay taxes. While they were there, the son was born. It was a prophecy fulfilled, of long before that, that there would be a new king, born of a virgin and a great star would shine over the birthplace when He was born.  Wise men, who knew of the prophecy, followed that star to find the baby. In that time, Sheep herders would stay awake at night, making sure no wild animals attacked their flocks. Angels appeared to the shepherds in the fields. The shepherds were fearful. The angels told them not to be afraid because they had good news. The angels told them of the miracle birth of Jesus in Bethlehem.

    Long ago, before Jesus was born, people had to go to a priest and have an unflawed animal sacrificed for their sins. People began to save the good animals for themselves and started sacrificing blemished and flawed animals to God.  Jesus,  their Savior, walked the earth as a human. He taught, he performed miracles, then, when he was 33 years old, he was put to death on a cross. He was sent here, by his Heavenly Father, God, to take the place of the burnt offerings. God made it easier for people to be resolved of their sins. The people would no longer have to make  sacrifices to rid themselves of their sins. The sacrifice was already made for them. God provided his own son as a sacrifice.  All that was required of the people to be forgiven for their sins was to believe, with all their heart, that Jesus was their sacrifice, their savior. When Jesus ascended to heaven, after his death and reserection, He said he was going to prepare a place for us to be with Him. If we have accepted Him as our savior, we will be with him throughout eternity. If we have accepted him as our savior, the one who was sacrificed for us, God will no longer remember our sins.  ALL humans sin. The only human without spot or blemish....was sacrificed... for us.

    Some think of God as a great, destructive judge. God does not create evil. Everything that God created is good. The bible is an instruction book given to us by God, showing us how to live the best, most prosperous, happiest life possible.  Satan is the creator of evil and bad things that happen to us, not God. So, when we sin, (as we all do) God does not shake his mighty finger at us and condem us. What he does is, lovingly, let us know that there was a man, His son, who died, a long time ago, on a cross, for our sins. All we have to do is realize that we have sinned, and we are sorry for it, and believe, with every fiber of our being, that he has already taken care of that for us. He died for it. He was our sacrifice and God has forgotten the sin. That sounds almost too simple but He made it simple so that every human being on earth could do it. No one would be left out of the plan. He had to make it simple so that all people, with all different levels of intelligence, could accept Him. 

    I am a Christian. I don't want to be overzealous and make people angry and run them away from anything to do with a bible. I've seen some people here that make me angry too. I've seen people prod and poke or condemn a person and then when someone stands up for themselves, the "Christian" spouts that they "forgive" and "love", to make a big show for themselves. They would condem someone else to make themselves look good. That's not what being a Christian is all about. I understand why some would run away.

    We're not all like that, honestly.

    Some people have the idea that good deeds or being good or going to church will give them salvation.  Some think that talking excessivly about being a Christian, shaking a bible in other peoples faces will do it..(I know several people who do that.) No...that's not it... It is a true, down in the pit of the heart, belief that Jesus died for us, personally, that is recognized as salvation by God. It has nothing to do with what other people think or what sins you do or don't do. Once you "believe" you'll have a new outlook.  You won't want to sin because you won't want to lead others down that path. You'll want to set a good example for them. You'll do this because you want people to know you love and believe Jesus. You'll want to do everything you can to bring people you love to be believers too. You won't want them to miss out. That's why I'm writing this piece.

    I have studied the bible for 42 years (wrote this in 2004) and even before that. Then I became a Christian at the age of 13.
    It has tried to be undone by the devil himself, but my faith (my Lord) was always there and I remain a Christian today.   It makes me happy to be a Christian.

    Men, inspired of God, wrote the bible. It all comes together so miraculously that I don't understand how anyone can not believe it. Science has proved most of it's scriptures. I have had so many miracles in my life, I know for sure, there is a God who is merciful and kind and loves me.

    Along with other things, it's all in the bible what to do and what not to do. The "what not to do" part is called "sin". It's for our own guidance that these things are in there. Not to condemn but to help us avoid the consequences of sin. (and consequences are no fun at all.) The worst thing about the consequence of sin is that, you may not be the one to suffer for your own sin. It could be some other innocent person or thing that suffers. I don't want to be the reason some other thing or person suffers! Another bad thing is that you may have to suffer the consequences of someone else's sins. Whoa! Hold the phone! (think deeply about it, you can think of things that others have done that you are suffering for.)
    So the best thing to do is try to not sin.
    But, alas,
    We ALL sin. Even if it's just a thought that runs through our head. Sometimes we sin just to get through life! It can't all be avoided.
    Also, read the bible. Yes, it's in there, all these controversial subjects a lot of you are talking about are in there. The ones you think are not wrong...they're in there.

    And when we sin, God does not shake his finger at us and say "You will pay for this!"
    No. no.....What He, lovingly, said was, "Don't worry, I already paid for this a long time ago."
    And he did, on the cross.

    You can't work for it. You can't crawl on your knees for miles for it....You can't buy it. ....You can't preach to get it....and it matters not how much good you do...

    All that is required of us is to BELIEVE he paid for it for you.

    It's that simple! He made it so simple that even a child could do it.

    I don't believe Christians are here to point a finger and shake it in someone else's face and say "You sinner!" (because no matter how hard they try not to, we all/they sin too.)

    I'm just here to say,

    "Whatever you do ... ... ..." BELIEVE."

Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.  1 Corinthians 2
     1 And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.[e] 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. 
    God’s Wisdom Revealed by the Spirit 6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written: 
       “What no eye has seen,   what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”[f]—   the things God has prepared for those who love him— 
     10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.  The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.[g] 14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 3 v4 For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings? 5 What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. 10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.  16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight.1 Corinthians 4

    The Nature of True Apostleship 9 We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to human beings. 10 We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ!     Day 344 --- Romans 11-13 (read July 10, 2011) Romans 11: v18 do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19 You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in." 20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.v25 Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, 26 and in this way[e] all Israel will be saved.9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love.     Day 345 --- Romans 14-16  (read July 11, 2011) Romans 14 1 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.  10 You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister[a]? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. 11 It is written:  "‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’" 12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. 22 So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves.     Acts 20:4-23:35 (read July 13, 2011)"It is said to be that the author of the Gospel of Luke is the same as the author of the Acts of the Apostles.[1] Tradition holds that the text was written by Luke the companion of Paul" ~wikipediach20 v7 While Paul was talking Eutychus fell asleep and fell out an upstairs window. He lived. 35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ "ch 21 Paul left on his way to Jerusalem. They begged Paul not to go to Jerusalem because it was prophesied that he would be tied up/ bound up there. In Jerusalem, Paul was attacked by mobs of people that said he had defiled the temple and was teaching against the "law". CH 22 Paul was granted permission to speak to the people so from the steps he told them how he had persecuted the christians and how God came to him and he was changed and what God wanted him to do. The people still said to to do away with him. ACTS ch 23 He was taken before the Sanhedrin court. The Pharisees found nothing wrong with him. Some of the Jews plotted to kill Paul but his sisters son overheard the plot and told the commander. He was transferred to Caesarea. He was kept under guard in Herod's palace
    Day 347 --- Acts 24-26 (read July 14, 2011) Paul defends himself before Felix. Felix leaves office and leaves Paul in prison, leaving him as a favor to the jews.  Paul stands before King Agrippa and tells him how he once percuted the Christians. and how a light shone around him and the others he was with and how Jesus called him to service. They decided that Paul could have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.
    Day 348 ---
    Acts 27-28 (read July 15 2011) Paul was put on a ship to Rome to stand before Caesar. A hurricane tossed the ship and it eventually ended up on a sand bar near a sandy beach. Later they found it was called Malta. God spoke to Paul on the ship and told him that they would all be alright.The islanders were kind to them from the ship. They built a fire and Paul was putting some wood on and a snake came out and bit him. The islanders said that Paul must be a murderer for this to happen to him. But when his hand didn't swell or he didn't get sick or die, they decided he must be a god. Paul healed a person there and the natives brought their sick to him and he healed them. After 3 months they borded a ship that had wintered over there. When they got to Rome there were people who had heard that Paul was coming and went to meet them. He was thankful for that. 30 For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. 31 He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!Finishes Acts

Also to prepare a guestroom for himself because he was coming back in answer to their prayers. Colossians 1-4 to the holy people in Colossae. ch2 6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. 8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind. 21 "Do not handle! Do not taste! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth. 9 fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, "How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?" 11 Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters,[e] were killed just as they had been. 12 sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black the moon turned blood red, 13 stars fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. 14 The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. 15 Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16 They called to the mountains and the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!  Revelation 7 144,000 Sealed  1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel coming up from the east called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: 3 "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God." 4 Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.9 The Great Multitude in White Robes 14 "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures.17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes Revelation 8 The Seventh Seal and the Golden Censer1 When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. 3 Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. 4 The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake. The Trumpets v6 seven angels had trumpets. 7 The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth, a third of the trees, and all the green grass was burned up. 8 The second ange'sl trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, 9 a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. 10 The third angel's trumpet, a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and the springs of water 11 the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter. 12 The fourth angel's trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day & night was without light. 13 an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: "Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!"Revelation 91 The fifth angel's trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. 2 When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke 3 And out of the smoke locusts came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth. 4 They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months. 6 During those days people will long to die, but death will elude them. 7 The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. crowns of gold, human faces. 8 like women’s hair, like lions’ teeth. 9 breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. (jet planes?) 10 in their tails they had power to torment people (bombs?). 11 They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss(where the smoke and locust came from), whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).13 The sixth angel's trumpet, a voice coming from the four horns of the golden altar that is before God. 14 It said to the sixth angel, "Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates." 15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.18 A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues (volcanos?) of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths 20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping idols that cannot see or hear or walk. 21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.  Revelation 10 The Angel and the Little Scroll 1 another mighty angel. 2 He was holding a little scroll, which lay open in his hand. He planted his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, 3 When he shouted, the voices of the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven say, "Seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down." 5 Then the ange standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. 6 And he swore by him who lives for ever and ever "There will be no more delay 8 Then was told to"Go, take the little scroll from the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land." 9 So I asked him to give me the little scroll. He said, "Take it and eat it. It will turn your stomach sour, but ‘in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.10 I took, ate it. It tasted sweet in mouth, but stomach turned sour. Revelation 11 The Two Witnesses1"Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, with its worshipers. 2 But the outer court; do not measure, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city 3 And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy clothed in sackcloth." 4 They are "the two olive trees" and the two lampstands, and "they stand before the Lord of the earth." 5 If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. 6 They have power to shut up the heavens so that it will not rain, turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want. 7 Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them,& kill them. 8 Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city—where also their Lord was crucified. 9 For three and a half days people, will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. 10 The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth. 11 But after--- life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. 12 And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on. 13 At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. The Seventh Trumpet15 The seventh angel's trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever." 16 And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying: The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your people who revere your name, 19 Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a severe hailstorm.

A red dragon was ready to devour the child when it was born. She gave birth to a son who "will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.". The child was snatched up to God's throne. The woman sent, by God, to a place he prepared tokeep her safe. War broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought the dragon. The dragon and it was Satan and was sent to earth and his angels too. The dragon the persued the women but she was givin wings like a eagle so she flew to the place out of the serpent's reach. The dragon spewed a river out of it's mouth but the earth swallowed up the river. The enraged dragon went off to wage war with the rest of her offspring....those who keep God's commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.Revelation 13 The Beast out of the Sea was once wounded but healed. The dragon gave his authoriy to the beast. The beast was given much power to wage war against God's people and conquer all of them. 8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life 11 second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, 13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth. 14 it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15 first beast.....so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16 It also forced all people, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. 18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666. Revelation 14 The Lamb and the 144,0004 These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they remained virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among mankind and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb. 5 No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.The Three Angels 6 Then I saw another angel flying... proclaim to those who live on the earth— in a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water." 8 A second angel followed and said, "‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great,’ which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries." 9 A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: "If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10 they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since mankind has been on earth,. 19 The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed 20 Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. 21 From the sky huge hailstones, each weighing about a hundred pounds, fell on people. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible. Revelation 17Babylon, the Prostitute on the Beast17 For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to hand over to the beast their royal authority, until God’s words are fulfilled.Revelation 18 Lament Over Fallen Babylon (I, lgg, am wondering if part of this could be about the world trade center (v 11) in New York City?) The Judgment of the Dead 11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.     Day 183 --- 2 Kings 1-4 (read 5/8/2009) Elijah and Elisha. Elijah parts the water. Elijah is taken to heaven in a whirlwind (without dying). Elisha gets a double portion of Elijahs spirit. The woman with a little oil to sell and pay for her debts so her son won't be taken into slavery. The old woman who has a son that is raised from the dead by Elisha.
    Day 184 ---  2 Kings 5-8  (read 5/25/209) Elisha proficies. This chapter tells about the man, Naaman, who had leprosy who Elisha told to dipin the Jordan river 7 times and was cured. 6 An iron axhead fell into the water and Elisha made it float so it could be rescued. v 18 As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, "Strike these people with blindness." So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked. There was a great famine in Samaria and canibalism.
    Day 185 --- 2 Kings 9-11 (read 5/25/2009) 2 Kings 9 Jehu becomes King of Israel. Jezebel is killed and dogs devour her all except her skull, feet and hands. 10 Jehu destroyed Baal (the idol) and all the people that worshiped him. They burned the stone of Baal and used it as a toilet. 11 Athaliah's son was dead so she began to kill all of the royal family. Jehosheba, daughter of King Jehoram took Joash, a royal prince and hid him. When he was 7 years old, he became king. Athaliah was killed. All of Baal was destroyed.
    Day 186 --- 2 Kings 12-13 (read 5/25/2009)  2 Kings 12. Tells of the line of kings. Joash had the temple repaired. 2 Kings 13 Elisha died.
    2 Chronicles 24  (read 5/25/2009) 21 But they plotted against him, and by order of the king they stoned him to death in the courtyard of the LORD's temple. 22 King Joash did not remember the kindness Zechariah's father Jehoiada had shown him but killed his son, who said as he lay dying, "
    May the LORD see this and call you to account."
    Day 187 --- 2 Kings 14 - 2 Chronicles 25 (read 5/25/2009) Tells more about the same as 24.
    Day 188 --- Jonah 1-4 (read 5/25/2009) ch1 The Lord told Jonah to go preach to Nineveh, a city that was wicked. Jonah ran from the Lord and caught a ship. He told the other sailors that he was running from this service to the Lord. A great wind came and tossed the boat about and scared the crew. They cast lots to see who was responsible for making such a storm on them. It turned up that Jonah was responsible. They asked Jonah to get up and and call on his god so that he might not let them die. They asked Jonah what to do to make the sea calm down. He told them to throw him in. They held off as long as they could but ended up throwing him in. A large fish came and swallowed Jonah. He was inside the fish for 3 days and 3 nights. ch2 From inside the fish, Jonah prayed and the Lord commanded the fish to vomit Jonah onto dry land. ch3. The Lord told Jonah to go to Neneveh. Jonah told them 40 days till destruction. They turned from their evil ways and God had compassion on them and didn't destroy them. ch4 Jonah was angry. and went to sit in a spot and see what the Lord would do. God made a vine grow overnight, and it shaded Jonah. Then he made a worm eat the vine and the sun blazed on his head. God explained to Jonah that since he had been concerned about the vine, that God should be concerned about something as big as a city.

    Day 189 --- 2 Kings 15 - 2 Chronicles 26 (read 6/9/2009) Tells the names of all the kings of Israel, In some instances, how they became king, how long they were king, whether they did good or evil in the eyes of the Lord, what happened during their reign, when they died and where they were buried and who followed them as king. 2 Chronicles 26 tells about Uzziah, the king who was plagued with leprosy because he became prideful and even though Aaron's descendents were the only ones allowed to burn inscense in the inscense alter, Uzziah burned it anyway.
    Day 190 --- Isaiah 1-4 (read 7/16/2009) 1:17 learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow. The Day of the Lord 6 You have abandoned your people, the house of Jacob. ch 2: They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and clasp hands with pagans. ch 3 9 The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. (this reminds me of gay pride in 2009) Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.v:10 9 The look on their faces testifies against them; they paradetheir sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves 3:16 The LORD says, "The women of Zion are haughty, walking along with outstretched necks, flirting with their eyes, tripping along with mincing steps, with ornaments jingling on their ankles. 17 Therefore the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the women of Zion; the LORD will make their scalps bald."

    Isaiah 5-8 (read 7/16/2009) Ch 5 v11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine. 12 They have harps and lyres at their banquets, tambourines and flutes and wine, but they have no regard for the deeds of the LORD, no respect for the work of his hands v 19 to those who say, "Let God hurry, let him hasten his work so we may see it. Let it approach,
    let the plan of the Holy One of Israel come, so we may know it." v 20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light
    and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. v21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
    and clever in their own sight. 22 Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, CH 7 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel ch 8 13 The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread, v19 When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?

    Day 192 --- Amos 1-5 (read July 20, 2009) tells how punish Israel for her sins. 21 "I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies. 22 Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, [b] I will have no regard for them. 23 Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. (He talks about the people who do religious things, then treat others in a wrong way.)

    (read July 20, 2009)  Amos 8 v9 "In that day," declares the Sovereign LORD, "I will make the sun go down at noon and darken the earth in broad daylight. 10 I will turn your religious feasts into mourning and all your singing into weeping. I will make all of you wear sackcloth and shave your heads. I will make that time like mourning for an only son and the end of it like a bitter day. (to me: sounds like the holocost)Amos 9 14 I will bring back my exiled [g] people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. 15 I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them," says the LORD your God (to me, his definately sounds like the end of the holocost)

    Micah 1-7 (read July 21,2009) Micah 2 v1 Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning's light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it. v2 They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them. He purified the temple and reestablished the service of the temple because the ones before had defiled it. 2 Chronicles c30 Hezekiah sent for the people to come to Jerusalem to celebrate the passover. He asked the people not to be stiff-necked, as their forefathers were. Some scorned but some came. The priests and the Levites were ashamed and consecrated themselves and brought burnt offerings to the temple of the LORD.2 Chronicles c31 20 This is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah, doing what was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God. 21 In everything that he undertook in the service of God's temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly.     Day 212 --- Isaiah 59-63  (Read March 7, 2010) 59: 8 The way of peace they do not know; there is no justice in their paths. They have turned them into crooked roads; no one who walks in them will know peace 13 rebellion and treachery against the LORD, turning our backs on our God, fomenting oppression and revolt, uttering lies our hearts have conceived. 14 So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter. 15 Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no justice.
    Day 213 --- Isaiah 64-66 (Read March 8, 2010)  64 :6 and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; 7 No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us and made us waste away because of our sins.8 Yet, O LORD, you are our Father.     Day 214 --- 2 Kings 20-21 (read March 09, 2010) Isaiah, the prophet, told Hezekiah to put his house in order because the lord said he was going to die. Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed and wept. The Lord heard and remembered that Hezekiah was a devoted servant so he gave him 15 more years to live. Hezekiah showed the men of Babylon his palace and what he owned. When they had gone, Isaiah asked Hezekiah what he did and Hezekian told Isaiah that he showed the men of Babylon all that he had. Isaiah told him that they would steal everything from him even his sons and that his sons would be made eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. Manasseh became king after Hezekiah when he was 12 years old. He brought back the idols and alters to idols. he built altars to all the starry hosts. 6 He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced sorcery and divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger.Manasseh led the Israelites astray, so that they did more evil than the nations the LORD had destroyed before the Israelites. Amon was Manasseh's son and became king, he did evil too. Then he was assassinated and his son Josiah succeeded him as king.
    Day 215 --- 2 Chronicles 32-33 (read March 15,2010)  33 again says the Manasseh did evil. 5 In both courts of the temple of the LORD, he built altars to all the starry hosts. 6 He sacrificed his sons in <SUP class=footnote value='[d]'>[d] the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced sorcery, divination and witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger. (I put these notes of evil in so that I may  learn not to do what provokes God to anger)
    Day 216 --- Nahum 1-3  (read March 16, 2010) The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished.The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble.  He cares for those who trust in him, Celebrate your festivals, O Judah and fulfill your vows.  No more will the wicked invade you; they will be completely destroyed.    Finishes Naham

    Day 222 --- Jeremiah 10-13  (Read April 7, 2010) Jeremiah 10 3 For the customs of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.
    4 They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thown into the furnace but when the king looked in, they were walking around with a 4th man and were unharmed. They were let out of the furnace and the King believed their God.

    Day 91 --- Judges 6-7  (read 5/1/07)  The Israelites did evil again and God put them under the control of Midianites. They took everything from the Israelites. They cried out again. This time God sent and angel to Gideon. God told him that he would save Israel. He argued some with the Lord and wanted proof that it was really God talking to him. He asked him to wait until he could go get the stuff to make an offering. The angel waited. He put the offering on a rock and the rock turned to fire and consumed the offering. Gideon built an alter to the Lord. The Lord told him to take a specific bull from his father's herd and tear down the alter that was build to Baal (an idol) and the Asherah pole too. and use the wood for burning a second offering. He did it at night. The next morning the men of the tribe were ready to kill Gideon but his father pointed out that it was silly of them to plead the cause of a god who could destroy Gideon, himself without the help of men. Gideon needed more proof that it was truly, God who was calling on him. Gideon asked for certain signs and they came about.
    God said there were to many men on Israel's side. He told Gideon to take the soldiers to the water to drink. He said use the soldiers who lapped the water from their hand like a dog instead of the ones who got down on the knees to drink. Gideon took the 300 who lapped the water. They followed Gideon into battle and did as Gideon told them.

    Day 92 --- Judges 8-9 (read 5/4/07)  Gideon fought battles for the Israelites. When Gideon asked for food for his troops, from the Succoth's and Peniel but they didn't give it. He tore the Succoth's with desert thorns and briers and tore down the tower at Peniel and killed the men. The Israelites wanted Gideon to rule over them but he told them that he would not, nor his son. Gideon requested that they give him one earring from each of them. With that, Gideon made the gold into an ephod and the people worshipped it and it became a snare but the land enjoyed peace for 40 years. Gideon had seventy sons of his own because he had many wives. His concubine had a son named Abimelech. Gideon died of old age and was buried at Oprah. The Israelites started worshipping Baal again and forgot the Lord.

    9. Abimelech, the son of the concubine rose up and got the people to make him leader. The people accepted him. He killed the other 70 sons. Jotham was the only son of the 70 that escaped being killed. Jotham scolded the people and tried to tell them how wrong they were. Then he left and went to another country to live. After 3 years God sent an evil spirit to cause trouble between Abimelech and the citizens. God did it to avenge the blood of the 70 sons. Gaal son of Ebed moved with his brothers into Shechem. The people put their trust in Gaal. They had a festival and drank and talked and cursed Abimelech. There was a battle and a tower was destroyed along with about 1000 people. Then there was another tower involved in another battle and a woman dropped a millstone on Abimelech's head and cracked his skull. He told his servant to kill him so people wouldn't say that a woman had killed him. So the servant ran his sword though him and Abimelech died. The curse of Jotham came upon the people.

    Day 93 --- Judges 10-12  (read 05/14/07) The Israelites did forsake God and God made them serve other people. Then they cried out again. He said he wouldn't save them but when the Israelites got rid of their idol gods and worshipped Him again, he couldn't bear to see them suffer. Jephthah became the leader. Jephthah promised the Lord that if he could win a battle he would sacrifice to the Lord whatever met him at the door of his house when he went went home. God made Jephthah win the battle and when he went home, his only child, daughter met him, dancing with tamborines. He told her what he promised God and she asked him to let her got into the hills and weep with her friends. He did and when she got back, he did as he told God he would do. Chapter 12 tells of another battle and then the names of the leaders after Jephthah.

    Day 94 --- Judges 13-15 (read 5/14/07)The Israelites were evil again and the Lord delivered them into the hands of the Philistines for 40 years. There was a a woman who couldn't have children but an angel come and told her to keep herself clean because she would have a son. She was not to cut his hair.The woman told her husband and he prayed for help to learn how to raise the boy. The angel came back and talked to them. The man asked what his name was. The angel told him he wouldn't understand it. The man sacrificed a burnt offering and the angel ascended by way of the fire into heaven. The husband, Manoah, was afraid because he realized this was an angel of the Lord. The woman had a baby boy and his name was Sampson. When Sampson was grown, he married a Philistine woman. He told them people he had a riddle and if they could guess it, they would give them a feast and clothes. If not, he would give them a feast and clothes. They thought about the answer and finally got Sampson's wife to get him to tell her the answer, and she told them. When they told Sampson the answer to the riddle, he knew that it was his wife that told them the answer. He gave her to his friend who was at his wedding. Sampson tied foxes tails together and set the on fire and they burned up all the shocks in the field. The men came to take Sampson and hand him over to the Philistines. As he was going, the ropes fell off him where he was bound up. He found and grabbed the jaw bone of a donkey and killed 1000 men with it. He led Israel for 20 years. to the top of a hill. Later he fell in love with a woman named Delilah. The Philistine rulers bribed her to get Sampson to tell her what caused him to have so much strength so the could get him. Sampson told her 3 different stories and she did those things but he broke loose each time. She nagged him and made him feel like bad for not telling her the truth. He finally told her that if his hair was cut her would loose his strength. He fell asleep with his head in Delilah's lap and she had his hair cut off. When he woke up, he had no strength and the Philistines put out his eyes and shackled him and put him to work in the prison. The Philistines celebrated. The Philistines called for Sampson to entertain them. The hair on his head started growing back. During a celebrating, Sampson asked to be put between two pillars/posts (that held up the building) so he could rest. The did. Then he prayed to God that could have strength, just one more time. So he pushed against the pillars and they crumbled and the building fell on his enemies and on him. C:17 A man named Micha told his mother that he took some silver from her. When he gave it back she had an idol made and put in Micah's house. He made a shrine and made one of his son a priest. Aman from Bethlehem came and lived there and Micah paid him to be his father and priest.He thought that would make the Lord be good to him since a Levite had become his priest. CH 18: The tribe of Dan Went through where Micha was and took the idols. Then they went to Laish and took over it and it became Dan, after their ancestor.

    Day 96 --- Judges 19-21 A man, a Levite, took a concubine from Bethlehem. She was unfaithful to him and went back to live at their father's house in Bethlehem. He and his servant and 2 donkeys went to get her and stayed for a few days because he was welcome there. They kept asking him to stay another night and stay and eat breakfast and he did for five days. Then he left and took his concubine. He didn't want to stay in a town that were not of his people so they traveled until they came to Gibeah and were sitting in the city square. No one had asked them to come and stay at their house and it was getting late when a man came and asked them to come stay at his house but begged them not to say at the square. They went home with him. During the night, some wicked men came to the door and wanted the man so they could have sex with him. Instead the man gave him the concubine and they raped and abused her that night. The next morning she came to the threshold of his door to lie down and die. The levite found her as he was about to leave on his journey home. When he got home, he cut up the concubine into twelve parts and sent them to all the 12 areas of Israel. All the Israelites heard what happened and asked for the wicked men who did that to the concubine. The Benjamites wouldn't give them up. The Israelites went to war against Gibeah of the tribe of Benjamin. The Benjamites won the first two battles but the third battle, God gave the Benjamites into the hands of the Israelites. After that, the Israelites mourned for the tribe of Benjamin because it was cut off from the other tribes. Israelites swore not to give their daughters in marriage to the Benjamites. The Benjamites went to Shiloh where there was a festival and when the women came out to dance, they each took one of the women for a wife.

    Day 97 --- Ruth 1-4  A woman named Naomi's husband and sons died. Oprah and Ruth were the wives of her deceased sons. Naomi decided to go back to her people and Oprah and Ruth decided to go with her. Naomi tried to talk them out of going. Oprah went back to her own people but Ruth insisted on staying with her mother in law saying. Where you go, I will go. Where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people will be my people and your God will be my god." When Naomi came to her people she was bitter and said the Lord had brought misfortune upon her. They came to Bethlehem just as the barley harvest was beginning.

    Ruth went out to get the grain that was left over from the pickers. A good man named Boaz saw her and told the pickers to leave some extra for her. She picked it up and took some to her mother in law. Boaz wanted her to stay with his servant girls so she wouldn't be harmed... until the harvesting was done. Naomi thought that was a good idea so she did.
    Naomi told her to go and lie at his feet one night So she did. Boaz gave her barley to take back to her mother in law. Boaz bought Naomi's property that was her husband's. I the transaction, Ruth became Boaz's wife. She had a son and named him Obed. Then the bible gives the generations. Ruth and Boaz was the grandparents of David.

    Day 98 --- 1 Samuel 1-3  Elkanah had two wives. One of them had children but Hannah, the one he loved had no children. The other wife would provoke Hannah until she cried and wouldn't eat. Elkanah would even give her more food but she wouldn't eat. One mealtime, she got up and prayed and moved her lips in prayer, not praying aloud. She asked God to give her a son and she would give him to the Lord and no razor would ever touch his head. Eli, the priest thought she was drunk. She explained that she was praying. Eli told her to go in peace and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked. She had a son and named him Samuel. When he was still a baby, and after he was weaned, she dedicated Samuel to the Lord. Samuel lived there with the priest and grew tall and more in favor with the Lord. Hannah had 3 more sons. His half brothers grew wicked. The priest was not doing the sacrifices as he should so a man of God came to him and told him that there would never be an old man in his family line. All his descendants would die young. His sons would both die on the same day. He said that the Lord would anoint one that would do what is in God's heart. And everyone left in the priest's family line would come and bow down to the one God chose. Samuel administered under Eli. During one night the Lord called his name "Samuel" three times. Each time Samuel thought it was Eli calling out his name so he went to Eli each time but Eli would tell him to go back to bed. Finally Eli figured out that it was the Lord who was calling out Samuel's name. Eli told Samuel that the next time he call his name to answer 'Here I am, your servant is listening". When he did that, The Lord re-established what he was going to do to Eli's descendants. The next morning Eli insisted that Samuel tell him what the Lord had said without withholding anything. Samuel told him everything even though he was afraid to tell. Eli then said ' He is the Lord; let him do what is good in his eyes". The Lord was with Samuel and all of Israel realized that Samuel was a prophet of the Lord.

    Day 99 --- 1 Samuel 4-8 (read 6-20-07)  The Israelites and Philistines went to battle. The Philistines won the first battle so the Israelites went and got the ark of the covenant (the holy container of her Ten Commandments from God). They carried it into battle thinking it would make them win. They lost and the Philistines captured the ark. The two sons of Eli died. A man came to where 98 year old Eli was sitting by the gate. He told Eli about the battle and his sons deaths and the ark being captured and he fell off his chair and broke his neck and died. When one of Eli's daughters in law heard about the capture of the ark, her husband's death and her father in laws death, she went into labor. She gave birth to a son and named him Ichabod, saying "the glory has departed from Israel" because of the capture of the ark of the covenant.
    The Philistines took the ark and put it in the temple of Dagon. (one of their statue gods). When the woke up, Dagon was fallen on his face before the ark of the Lord. They put him back in his place but the next morning he was fallen again his head and hands were broken off and only his body was lying on the threshold. The hand of God was heavy on them. They were afflicted with tumors. They decided they didn't want the ark among them. Everywhere they took the ark there was affliction. The people wanted the ark taken back to the Israelites.  They sent the ark, along with a guilt offering (gold rats and models of tumors). Some men died because they looked into the ark. The ark stayed at a house in Kiriath Jearim.
    The people of Israel got rid of their other Gods and worshiped only God.
    Samuel was a judge over Israel. Samuel had sons that did not follow in his ways. They were corrupt. Some men went to Samuel and told him they wanted a king, like the other nations. Samuel didn't like it so he prayed. God told him to listen to the people and then let them know what a king would do if one ruled over them. God also said that the people were not rejecting Samuel, but were rejecting God, himself. Samuel told the people that how a king would use their sons and daughters and food etc but the people wouldn't listen. God told Samuel to give them a king.

    Day 100 --- 1 Samuel 9-12  (read 6-22-07) Saul was a Benjamite who was sent, by his father to hunt for some donkeys that were lost. Saul and his servant hunted but didn't find the donkeys so Saul said "Let's go home before my father gets worried about us." The servant talked Saul into staying in the district of Zuph, saying that there was a man of God there who could tell them which direction the donkeys had gone. He agreed and they saw some girls coming out to draw water from the well and asked them where the man of God was. They told him that he would be in a certain high place to bless the food right about then and the Saul and the servant went to him. Samuel was the man of God and it had been revealed to him that Saul would be there, looking for donkeys He told Saul that the donkeys he was looking for had been found. He invited Saul to have dinner. He had save a portion of meat for Saul. He told Saul to stay, to give a message from God, and sent the servant back Samuel told Saul who all he would meet and what to do on the way back home. And also that her would be changed by the spirit of the Lord. Samuel called all the tribes of Israel together to choose a king. Saul hid and when they found him Samuel presented him to them as their king. Saul was taller than any of them. So Samuel confirmed that Saul was the king over Israel. He also rebuked them for asking for a king. He warned them to fear the Lord and not turn away from the Lord or they and their king would be swept away.

    Day 101 --- 1 Samuel 13-14  (read 7-2-07) Saul gave a burnt offering instead of waiting for Samuel. That was a mistake. Jonathan was the son of Saul. He and his armour barrer went off and struck down about 20 uncircumcised soldiers, without his father's knowledge.. There was a panic, sent by God. The Philistines were so in turmoil that they were fighting each other. Saul had told his soldiers to take an oath, they were cursed if they ate anything... until he had avenged his enemies. None of the soldiers did eat. But Jonathan hadn't heard the oath so he ate some honey that was coming out. One of the soldiers told him about Saul's curse. He said his father had done wrong because his eyes were brightened by eating the honey and if the soldiers had ate, they would have done better in battle. The men were so hungry they started killing the cattle they had taken in plunder and eating it raw. Saul told them not to sin by eating meat with blood still in it. So he built and alter. Saul asked God if he would deliver the enemy to his hand. God didn't answer. Then it came out that Jonathan had ate some honey. But the men rescued him and he did not die. The Philistines were the enemy of Israel all the days that Saul was king. Saul drafted men that were mighty or brave.

    Day 102 --- 1 Samuel 15-17  (read 7/6/07) God told Samuel to tell Saul to go and destroy all the Amalekites. He specified that every one of them and their animals be put to death. Saul took his army and destroyed but captured the King and kept the best of the flocks and herds. This displeased God and he grieved that he has made Saul king. Samuel mourned because of what Saul had done. God told Samuel to go to the house of Jesse because he had picked out one of Jesse's sons to be anointed the new king. Samuel went, not telling Saul of all of this, and saw 7 of Jesse's sons but the Lord told Samuel that none of them was the one. Finally they brought the youngest son, who was out in the field tending the sheep. This was the one. They anointed him. His name was David. Saul was distressed with an evil spirit that the Lord sent. They said that there was a boy who played the harp that might play when Saul felt bad and it would help him feel better. They went and got David to play the harp. It helped Saul feel better when the evil spirit would come upon him. He didn't know that David was the newly anointed king. The army's of Israel and the Philistines where ready to do battle. Israel on one hill, the Philistines on the other hill and a valley in the middle. A big man of the Philistines came down and taunted the Israelites to send someone to fight him. If one could beat him the Philistines would become servants of the Israelites. Three of David's brothers were there in Saul's army on the Israelites side. David went to give them some food and see how they were for their father, Jesse. He heard the taunting of the giant man, Goliath. David talked Saul into letting him go fight the giant. He went to Goliath without armor, only using a stone in a sling. The stone hit Goliath in the head and killed him. David cut off the giant's head. Saul asked who David's father was and he told him his father's name was Jesse.

    Day 103 --- Psalm 11 - 1 Samuel 18-20 - Psalm 59  (read 7-9-07) Jonathan, Saul's son, became David's best friend .The people all liked David and Saul gave him a high rank in the army. When they were returning home, the women came out and sang and danced and they sang that Saul had slain thousands and David tens of thousands. Saul got jealous of David and planned to kill him. Saul threw a spear at David twice, but David dodged them and they hit the wall. Saul planned to let the Philistines kill David by offering his daughter in marriage if David could deliver to Saul foreskins of the Philistines, and David did and wasn't killed. Michal loved David and they were married. Saul was afraid of David and was his enemy the rest of his days. Saul wanted to kill David and wanted Jonathan to help. But Jonathan talked Saul out of it. Then the evil spirit came upon Saul again and Saul was holding a spear. David was playing the harp and Saul tried to pin him to the wall with the spear. David ran away. His wife helped him escape. David went to Samuel. Saul sent men to kill David but the spirit of God came upon them and they prophesied. He sent more men and they did the same. Finally, he went and the spirit of God came upon him too. And he prophesied too. There was a feast of the New Moon and Saul, Jonathan and David were suppose to be there. Jonathan and David talked beforehand and said that David should go to Bethlehem instead. If Saul was angry on hearing this, then David should run go away because he would probably be killed, but if Saul was ok with it, David would be safe. They were at the table, Saul and Jonathan but David wasn't present. Saul asked and Jonathan told him that David had gone to a family thing in Bethlehem. Saul was angry and ready to kill David. He even hurled his spear at Jonathan. Jonathan left the table, angry, and didn't eat. Jonathan and David had made up a sign that if Saul was going to kill David, he would let him know by a signal. And he did. So they had a tearful goodbye and David left and Jonathan went back to town. Psalm 59 is from David asking God for protection. Saying his enemies are like dogs and asking God to consume them.

    Day 104 --- 1 Samuel 21-24 (read 7/10/07) David went to Ahimelech, the priest and wanted bread for his men. The priest didn't have any ordinary bread, but since David said his men hadn't been with women, he could have the consecrated bread. David asked for a weapon. The priest said the only one there was the sword of Goliath, the giant that David killed. David fled from Saul and went to the king of Gath. The servants of the king asked if he was the one that songs were sung about "Saul has slain his thousand and David his tens of thousands".? David was very afraid of the King of Gath so he pretended to be insane. He made marks on the doors and slobber ran down his beard. The king didn't like him being in his house.
    Saul heard about the priest giving David the sword. Saul ordered his men to kill the priests. The men would not but Doeg, the Edomite did.That day he killed eighty five men who wore the linen ephod. He also killed Nob, the town of priest, men women, children, infants, cattle, donkeys and sheep. Abiathar, the son of Ahimelech, escaped and fled to join David.
    The Philistines were fighting against Keilah and the Lord told David to go fight and He would make David victor over the Philistines. Saul heard that David was going to Keilah and fight the Philistines so Saul ordered his men to go attack David and his men. When David asked twice of God if the people of Keilah would surrender him to Saul, God said yes. So David and his men left Keilah an moved around. Saul heard that David had left Keilah and didn't go there. Saul searched for David every day. Jonathan came to David and reassured him that he would be king and Jonathan second in line. Saul was still in pursuit of David and on a mountain, Saul on one side and David on the other getting close when a messenger came to Saul saying the Philistines were raiding the land. Saul left to see about it and David lived in the strongholds of En Gedi. When Saul was done dealing with the crisis of the Philistines, he and his men went back after David. David was deep in a cave with his men. During Saul's pursuit, he had to relieve himself so he went right inside of the cave. While Saul was relieving himself, David cut off a corner of his robe. After Saul left the cave, David was sorry he had cut the robe of his master, King Saul. As Saul was leaving, David went out of the cave and called to Saul. When Saul saw him, David bowed to Saul. He showed Saul that he had cut from his robe and asked him why he wanted to kill him. He said that God should judge between the two of them but that he was not going to harm his king. When Saul saw that David could have killed him, but didn't, he realized that God had delivered him into David's hands. He asked David not to cut off his family or name. David swore and oath and each of them went their own way.

    1 Samuel 25-27 (read 7/27/2007)  Samuel died. There was a woman named Abigail who's husband was a fool. The husband wouldn't give David's men food and keep them free from being robbed. David was about to attack him and the town, but Abigail came to David and brought food and told David not to pay any attention to her foolish husband. David did as she said and let them alone. 10 days later, the Lord made the foolish man, Nabal, die. David praised God and said the man died because the Lord upheld his cause against Nabal for treating him with contempt. After Nabal died, David married Abigail. David had also married Ahinoam of Jezreel, so he has 2 wives.
    Once more, David was presented with a chance to take Saul's life. While Saul was asleep and his army camped around him, God made Saul's men go into a deep sleep. David and one of his men went down and into the camp. Saul's spear and water jug was near Saul's head. The man that was with David wanted to pin Saul to the ground with his spear but David didn't. He just took Saul's spear and water and they went up on a high hill and shouted to Saul's army. Saul recognized David's voice and David showed him the spear and water and how he could have taken his life. Saul said to David, "May you be blessed, my son David; you will do great things and surely triumph." So David went on his way, and Saul returned home. David thought about it and decided that Saul would probably kill him someday so he and his men moved to Philistine country. David would attack towns around in that place them and kill them all, men and women all and take their clothes and livestock. He did that so there wouldn't be anyone left to tell on him. He did that as long as he lived in Philistine country.

    Psalm 18 - 1 Samuel 28-31  (Read 8/14/07) David talks about how the Lord had made him win. 1 Samuel 28-31 Saul had had all the spiritists and mediums thrown out of the land. Now, Saul had his men find a medium because he wanted to talk to the spirit of Samuel. He disguised himself and went to her. When she brought up the spirit of Samuel, she realized that it was Saul who was seeking her services as a medium, and she was afraid he was going to have her killed. He said he wouldn't. Samuel's spirit was not pleased that he had been disturbed. He told Saul that the next day Saul and his sons would be with him. Saul was shaken. He refused to eat...but some of the men talked him into eating.
    David was going to fight with the Philistines but the officers told Achish not to let David fight with them because they thought he would turn on them. Achish trusted David but told him and his men to go away early and not fight with them that day. So they got up early and left. Three days later David and his men came to Ziklag and found that the city had been burned and all the women and children had been taken. David's two wives were in that group that had been taken. The families of David's men had been taken too and the men were bitter against David and talking about stoning him. They all wept.
    They found a weak slave that had been left behind by his master and the slave showed them where the army was that took the wives and children and plunder. David and his men attacked and took back everything, including his 2 wives.
    The Philistines and Israelites fought and Saul was wounded by the archers. He asked one of his men to go ahead and run a sword through him so the enemies wouldn't. The man would not so Saul took a sword and fell on it and killed himself. When the man saw it, he didn't the same. Saul and his sons all died that day. When the Philistines found them they cut of Sauls head and and took the armour. They fastened the bodys to the temple of their idol god. |

    Psalm 121 - Psalm 123-125 - Psalm 128-130  David tells that the Lord will watch over. David still holds up the Lord and tells what happens to people who do evil, in his songs/prayers. He says that people who fear the Lord will be blessed.
    Day 111 --- 2 Samuel 1-4  (Read 10-4-07)An Amalekite man came and told David that Saul had told him to kill him so he killed Saul. Then David had the Amalekite man killed because he had killed Saul, an annointed man of the Lord. David had 6 sons by his wives. Abner made an agreement with David to bring the Israelites to have David for their king. David told him he must bring Michal to him. Michal was the wife of Ish-Bosheth (son of Saul) and when Abner took her from him he wept following behind her. Abner told him to go back and he did. Abner and his men had a feast with David, then he left to ake a compact with Israel and David. Joab told David that he shouldn't have let Abner leave. That Abner was a spy and was going to decieve David. Joab brought him back and pretended to need to talk to him in private so he took him aside and Joab stabed Abner and killed him for revenge because Abner had killed their brother in a battle. David mourned for Abner and said "may the Lord repay the evildoer according to his evil deeds". Two men went into the house of Is-Bosheth and killed him and cut off his head an took it to David. But David didn't want the blood of an inocent man shed so he ordered them to be killed.

    they will turn back in sudden disgrace. David's God will destroy his enemies.

    Day 116 ---
    Psalm 73 - Psalm 77-78 (Read March 17, 2008) Tells that David was jealous of the ones who seemed to be more blessed but then he saw through and now he is satisfied to know that their blessings were all in vain because they knew not God. He feels so forgotten, he decides to just remember the miracles that God did long ago. He tells of how God worked miracles and how powerful He was when his people didn't honor His covenant and rebelled.

Psalm 92-93 Speaks of how great God is and how the righteous will flourish and grow. Tells more of how great the Lord is

    1 Chronicles 7-10 (read 3/27/98) Chronicles more genealogy of Issachar, Benjamin, Manasseth, Ephraim and Asher, the descendants of Saul, Benjamin. It tells of who was in charge of things in the temple. Jerusalem. It tells of the genealogy of Saul. Saul was in a battle with the Philistines and he and his sons and his armor bearer died. The sons in the battle and Saul and the armor bearer because they killed themselves to keep from being abused by the Philistines. The bible says (1 Chronicles 10: 13) that Saul died because he was unfaithful and consulted a medium for guidance instead of the Lord.

    Psalm 102-104  (read 3/28/08)  102=The psalmist feels...like I feel right now. 103= The psalmist praises the Lord 104= tells how God made and takes care of everything and how all His creations live and do. 34 May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the LORD. 35 But may sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked be no more. Praise the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD.

    2 Samuel 5:1-10 - 1 Chronicles 11-12  (read March 30/2008)  David became king and conquered the Jebusites at Jerusalem. He had mighty men in his army. He wanted a drink from the well at Bethlehem and his men went to get it. When they brought it back, he poured it out and woudn't drink it because the men had risked their lives to get it for him. This chapter tells of who they were and how strong and swift at battle and what they could do...how they fought. There were men from different places that came to join David's army. He had a lot of support.

    Psalm 106-107 (read April 7, 2008)  Reminds us how Moses led his people out of bondage and of all his miracles for them and how much he had done for them and they still rebelled and turned to idols and murmered against God. He says go give thanks to God because he has broken chains for them. He says to look and see what the Lord has done and the wise will head these things and consider the great love o f the Lord.

    2 Samuel 5:11-6:23 - 1 Chronicles 13-16 (read April 20, 2008)  David was annointed king of Israel. There was a battle between David and the Philistines. David asked the Lord about how to do battle and the Lord said to circle around behind them and attack from in front of the balsam trees. To listen for the sound of marching and when the tops of the tres move quickly that meant that to Lord had moved out in front of them. David did as the Lord commanded and the Philistines where struck down. David danced and celebrated as they carried the ark of the covenant. One of the ones carrying the ark stumbled and one touched the ark to steady it and died.
    Only certain people were allowed to carry the ark. They were to carry it on poles the way Moses had instructed. They were bringing the ark with shouts and celebration.
    Michal, the daughter of Saul, saw the bringing the ark with celebration and dispised David in her heart.
    They brought to ark to the tent Jersalem. and made offerings and made a Psalm praising the Lord.

    Psalm 1-2 - Psalm 15 - Psalm 22-24 - Psalm 47 - Psalm 68  (read April 20, 2008) The Lord watches over the righteous but the way of the wicked will perish. David asks, who may dwell in the Lord's sanctuary. Those that have no slander on his tongue, and does no wrong to his neighbor, casts no slur on his fellowman. (do you think my inlaws are in big trouble!?)
    David writes a Psalm that sort of makes you think might be a prophecy of Christ thinking of himself on the cross. Asking why he was forsaken. He says: "
    a band of evil men has encircled me,
    they have pierced my hands and my feet."
    Psalm 23 is the Lord is my Shepherd Psalm. Tells how David has been exposed to his enemies and other things but the Lord has always been with him. 24. Tells that the ones with clean hands and a pure heart will will stand in the holy place. It says that the Lord Almighty is the King of glory. 27. Telling to sing praises and exault God. 68. Tells how powerful God is.

    Psalm 89 - Psalm 96 - Psalm 100 - Psalm 101 - Psalm 105 - Psalm 132 (read May 20, 2008)  In Psalm 89 The Psalmist tells of how great God is and what God has promised him.     Day 170 --- Ecclesiastes 1-6 (read March 19, 2009) Ecclesiastes tells us that there is nothing new under the sun. To be happy while you have days on the earth.Ecclesiastes 2 v21 For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then he must leave all he owns to someone who has not worked for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune. 22 What does a man get for all the toil and anxious striving with which he labors under the sun? 23 All his days his work is pain and grief; even at night his mind does not rest.     Day 171 --- Ecclesiastes 7-12 (read March 19, 2009) Ecclesiastes 7 v9 Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit,
    for anger resides in the lap of fools. 10 Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?"
    For it is not wise to ask such questions. 15 In this meaningless life of mine I have seen both of these: a righteous man perishing in his righteousness, and a wicked man living long in his wickedness. 20 There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins. 21 Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you- Ecclesiastes 8 v7 Since no man knows the future, who can tell him what is to come? 14 There is something else meaningless that occurs on earth: righteous men who get what the wicked deserve, and wicked men who get what the righteous deserve. This too, I say, is meaningless. 15 So I commend the enjoyment of life, because nothing is better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany him in his work all the days of the life God has given him under the sun. Ecclesiastes 9 v5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun. 7 Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favors what you do. 8 Always be clothed in white, and always anoint your head with oil. 9 Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun— all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun. 10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, [c] where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom. 17 The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools. 18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good. Ecclesiastes 10 v5 There is an evil I have seen under the sun, the sort of error that arises from a ruler: 6 Fools are put in many high positions, 12 Words from a wise man's mouth are gracious, but a fool is consumed by his own lips. 13 At the beginning his words are folly; at the end they are wicked madness- 14 and the fool multiplies words. 20 Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich in your bedroom, because a bird of the air may carry your words, and a bird on the wing may report what you say. 10 So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless.Ecclesiastes 121 Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them"- 13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil

There had never been such spices as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon. 12 King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired and asked for; he gave her more than she had brought to him. Then she left and returned with her retinue to her own country. 30 Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years. 31 Then he rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of David his father. And Rehoboam his son succeeded him as king. 1 Kings 10 -(read OCT 24,2008) 1 Kings 11-Solomon's Wives  the LORD had told the Israelites, "You must not intermarry with them (other nations), because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods." Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.6 The So Solomon did evil in the eyes of the LORD; he did not follow the LORD completely, as David his father had done. Then the LORD raised up against Solomon an adversaries. the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'See, I am going to tear the kingdom out of Solomon's hand and give you ten tribes. 32 But for the sake of my servant David and the city of Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, he will have one tribe. 33 I will do this because they have [d] forsaken me and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Molech the god of the Ammonites, and have not walked in my ways, nor done what is right in my eyes, nor kept my statutes and laws as David, Solomon's father, did.

    1 Kings 12-14 (read March 30, 2009)  Rehoboam became the king. 31 Jeroboam built shrines on high places and appointed priests from all sorts of people, even though they were not Levites He instituted a festival on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, like the festival held in Judah, and offered sacrifices on the altar. This he did in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves he had made.A man of God was standing next to Jeroboam at the alter and the man cried out that human bones would be burned on the alter and that the alter would split and spill the ashes. Jeroboam heard that man and stretched out his hand for the man of God to be seized and Jeroboam's hand shriveled up. The kind asked the man to intercede and restore his hand, and he did. Another profit lied to the man of God and he did as the Lord had told him not to so the man of God was killed by a lion. Jehoboam still never changed his evil ways. 1 Kings 14 The son of Jeroboam, died. Rehoboam son of Solomon was king in Judah. 22 Judah did evil in the eyes of the LORD.   • My Bible Reading and Notes

    I'm fairly sure that I have read and had the King James version of bible read to me, probably several times. I just wanted to do it again, this time in NIV.

    UPDATE: Did you know that, if you use this online bible http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Joh%203:16&version=9 there is a little loudspeaker you can click at the top of each chapter and this guy reads it to you? That has helped me a lot. I think what is slowing me down in my making notes. I wanted to comprehend everything as correctly as I could. I thought it would help to be able to go back and see when certain things happened...like were it says something in particular. EX: when Moses received the commandments.

    Day 1 ---
    Genesis 1-3   (read 4/25/06) In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the earth. God created light, sky, land and seas, vegetation, sun and moon and stars, fish and birds, animals and creatures, and man. (2) God rested on the 7th day and made it holy. Streams watered everything. God breathed breath into man. God planted a garden and in the middle he planted "the tree of life". There were 4 rivers. God put the man into the garden. Man had everything he needed there. He told him to eat but not to eat from the tree in the middle of the garden or he would die. The man gave names to everything. Adam was the man's name. God made Adam go into a deep sleep and took one of his ribs and made "woman". They were naked but they didn't know to be ashamed. (3) A serpent talked the woman into eating from the tree in the middle of the garden. They realized they were naked. They hid from God. The man blamed the woman for them eating from the tree. The woman blamed the serpent. God cursed the serpent for all the days of his life. God caused the woman to have to have pain in childbirth and to serve her husband. God caused Adam to have to work the ground for food.  They would also die. Then God threw them out of the Garden.
    Day 2 ---
    Genesis 4-7   (read 4/26/06) Adam and Eve had a son, Cain and then another, Able. Able kept flocks and Cain worked the soil. Cain was jealous because God favored Able's offering more. Cain killed his brother, Able. Eve had another son, Seth. The next verses tell all the generations from Adam to Noah. The Lord saw how wicked man had became so he decided to destroy them. Noah was the only man he found that was not wicked so he chose him to build an ark and told him every measurement to make and exactly how to build it.  He told Noah to take all his family, wife, 3 sons and their wives, into the ark. He also told him to take each animal, and told him how many, into the ark. Noah did all the things the Lord told him to do.  It had not rained until then. It rained 40 days and 40 nights.  Every living thing on the earth perished. Noah and his family and the creatures in the ark didn't die.
    Day 3 ---
    Genesis 8-11 (read 4/27/06) God sent a wind over the earth and the waters receded. As the water started going down, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. Noah waited and sent out a dove but the dove couldn't find a place to light so it came back to the ark. Noah waited 7 more days and sent it out again. this time it came back with an olive leaf. Noah waited 7 more days and sent her out again and she didn't come back. This was a good sign that she found land and stayed on it. God told Noah to come out of the ark and bring his family and all the animals. He told them to be fruitful and multiply. Noah build an alter and sacrificed clean animals and birds. God smelled the pleasing aroma and said that He would never destroy the earth with water again. God set a rainbow in the sky for us to remember his promise not to cause water to destroy man and the living creature on earth. Noah planted and grew a vineyard. He got drunk and and naked and his son, Ham, saw him and told his brothers. His brothers took a cover for him and took it to their father, walking backward so they wouldn't see their father naked. When Noah awoke, he cursed Ham, father of Canaan, saying he would be a slave to his brothers. After Noah died, the next chapter give an account of the next generations of the 3 sons of Noah.
    Men started building a city and a tower to the heavens to make a name for themselves. When God saw what they were doing, he made them all speak a different language, so they couldn't understand each other and they gave up building the tower and scattered all over the world.
    The rest of the chapter gives the generations from Shem to Abram.
    Abram was Lot's uncle. Abram's wife was Sarah. She had not had children.
    Day 4 ---
    Job 1-5           (read 4/28/06 and again 10/21/06) There was a good man who feared God, who had children and flocks.
    The angels came to present themselves to God and so did Satan. Satan told God that if all Jobs belongings were taken away from him, he would surely curse God. So, as a test of Jobs faith, God put everything Job had into Satan's hands except Jobs own life. Jobs oxen and donkeys were stolen and his servants were killed. Fire fell from the sky and killed his shepards and sheep. His camels were stolen and those servants were killed. A fire burned all his children. Job tore his robe, shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped God. Job got sores from his head to his feet. While he was sitting in ashes scraping himself with broken pottery, his wife told him he should curse God and die. He said they would accept the bad because they accepted the good. Jobs 3 friends went to him. When they saw him from a distance they all weeped. They tore their clothes and put dust on their heads and sat on the ground with him for seven days. None of them said anything because they saw how great his suffering was. Job cursed the day he was born. His friends discuss why it happened and what to do

    Day 5 ---
    Job 6-9           (read 5/07/06 again 10/24/06) With his friends, Job questions and wonders why all this has happened to him. He is still holding up for his God. He spoke out and complained of the anguish of his spirit and the bitterness of his soul. He gets advice from another of the friends. Job tells of how mighty God is.
    Day 6 ---
    Job 10-13       (read 5/09/06) Job still talks to his friends about his grief.
    Day 7 ---
    Job 14-16       (read 5/10/06) Job and his friends are still talking. Job finally tells them that they are not a comfort to him.
    Day 8 ---
    Job 17-20       (read 5/12/06) Job still has no hope. His spirit has been broken. His friends tell him he doesn't know God and that it is Jobs fault he has to stand this pain. He asked for pity because no one loves him. But Job still believes in his Redeemer. Job's friends still talk and tell him that he has done something wicked to deserve what he is going through.
    Day 9 ---
    Job 21-23       (read 5/13/06)Job talks to his friends about how the wicked people still seems to be blessed with everything. They never seem go be destroyed and bad things never happen to them. They even seem to die in peace. Both good and bad die and and worms cover them both the good and wicked. One of his friends accused Job of bad things. He told him to return to God and remove wickedness from his life. He tried to give him advice. Job said, he wanted to talk to God and see what was wrong. He said he couldn' t find God but that God knew exactly what Job was doing and that God could see that he still worshipped him and tried to do what God wanted. Job said when he was done being tested, he would be as gold.

    Genesis 19-21 (read 5/30/06) Two angels were going to sleep in the city square. The men of the city wanted to have sex with the angels. Lot tried to offer his daughters to them but the men of the city were relentless. The 2 angels pulled Lot back inside the house and the angels struck the men blind. The angels led Lot and his wife and daughters out of the city of Sodom, telling them not to look back, and they went to Zoar. Lot's wife turned and looked back and she turned into a pillar of salt. The next morning, Lot saw that Sodom and Gomorrah had been destroyed because the Lord made it rain down burning sulfer on both cities. Lots daughters got their father to drink wine and get drunk. They slept with him, thinking they would have child by him and preserve the family line. Each of the two daughters had a son by their father, Lot.
    Because she ws pretty, Abraham and Sarah told King Abimelech that Sarah was his sister, out of fear that Abimelech would kill him. Abimelech sent for Sarah but God came to Abimelech in a dream and told him she was a married woman. He summoned Abraham and asked why he had almost brought death to him by telling that Sarah was his wife. Abraham explained and since Abimelch hadn't touched Sarah it was all worked out. The King gave Abraham silver and told him to live anywhere in the land he wanted. 21 The Lord was gracious to Sarah and she did get pregant and had a son. They named him Isaac. During a feast, Sarah saw Hagar and her son, Ishmael, mocking and told Abraham to get rid of them. Since it was Abraham's son, the Lord promised that his ofspring would become a great nation. So when Hagar and Ishmael were in the desert they thought they would die, but an angel came to them. Hagar's eyes were opened and she saw a well and drank and gave to her son. He grew up in the desert and became an archer.


    Day 19 ---
    Genesis 22-24 (read 5/30/06) Genesis 22; God tested Abraham. God told Abraham to take his son, Isaac and sacrifice him as a burnt offering. Abraham bound his son and laid him on the alter. When Abraham drew back a knife, God stopped him and provided a ram instead of Isaac for an offering. Genesis 23…Abraham's wife Sarah died at age 127. He buried her in the cave of the field of Machpelah. He bought the place to bury her from Ephron. Genesis 24…Abraham was old. He wanted a servant to go find a wife for his son, Isaac, but not a Canaanite. Abraham wanted Isaac to marry a woman from his own people. Abraham said to his servant that God would send an angel ahead of him. Then if the woman would not follow him back, it would not be the servant's fault. The servant went to Mesopotamia to the city of Nahor. The servant made the camels kneel down at the well during the same time the women went out to draw water. The servant prayed that when the women came out that when he asked for water, the "chosen" woman would give him water and also give his camels a drink too. That is how he would know that this was the one that was meant to be Isaac's wife. Before he got through speaking, Rebekah came to draw water from the well. She was very pretty and a virgin. The servant asked her for a drink of water. She gave it to him and also gave the camels water too. The servant gave her a golden earring, 2 bracelets and 10 shekels of gold. He asked who her father was and if he had a place that he and his camels could spend the night. She told him there was room for him and straw for the camels too. The servant bowed his head and worshipped the Lord. Rebekah ran home and told what had happened. Rebekah's brother, Laban came out and invited the servant in and called him ‘blessed of the Lord". The servant told the family who he was and of all the blessings that Abraham had that would be Issac's…all of his camels and servants and riches. He told them the story of how he had prayed, all that had happened by the well and how he was to find Isaac a wife. Laban listened and said he could take Rebekah back to marry Isaac. He stayed all night and took her back with him. Before they even got to Abraham's camp, Rebekah and Isaac saw each other. Isaac ran to meet Rebekah and she lighted off the camel and covered herself with a veil. Rebekah became Isaac's wife and loved her.
    Day 20 ---
    Genesis 25-26 (read 5/31/06) Abraham took another wife who gave him sons. Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac. Abraham lived 175 years and died and was buried with Sarah. Ishmael's descendants lived in hostility toward all his brothers. Rebekah had twins. Esau, then Jacob.  Isaac loved Esau (a hunter), Rebekah loved Jacob (a gardener). Esau was starving one day and sold his birthright to Jacob for some food.
    Day 21 ---
    Genesis 27-29 (read 5/31/06) Isaac was old and blind. Rebekah heard him tell Esau to hunt some meat and cook it for him and he would bless him before he dies. Esau was hairy so Rebekah took hairy animal skins and put them on Jacob so that he might fool his father into thinking he was Esau and get his blessing.
    Jacob loved Rachel but his father-in- law tricked him into working 7 years for her sister Leah as a wife, then 7 more years for Leah.
    Day 22 ---
    Genesis 30-31 (read 6/1/06) Rachel and Leah have a child bearing contest. They let their maids sleep with their husband and the maids have several children by Jacob. Finally, Rachael has a son for Jacob, Joseph. Jacob and his father in law make a deal. Jacob gets all the livestock with stripes. Jacob "marks" the livestock by using sticks that are striped. After 20 years of working for his father in law, Jacob leaves and takes his wives, Rachel and Leah and his children and flocks back to his father's country.
    Day 23 ---
    Genesis 32-34 (read 6/05/06)  Genesis ch 32 Jacob travels back to the country where his brother Esau is. He was afraid Esau would be angry. During his journey he wrestled with an angel Genesis ch 33 Jacob saw Esau coming and expected Esau to attack him. Instead, Esau embraced Jacob. Jacob settled his family, servants and flocks nearby. Genesis ch 34 Leah and Jacob's daughter, Dinah, was defiled because a man of that country, Shechem, lay with her. He loved her and wanted to marry her. Dinah's brothers were angry. Shechem's people made an agreement with Jacob's people that if the men were circumcised, like Jacob's people, they would intermarry and trade with one another. The men agreed and were circumcised. While they were still sore and weak, Jacob's sons attacked and killed them and took all their belongings
    Day 24 ---
    Genesis 35-37 -(read 6/29/2006) Gen 35 God told Jacob to go back to Bethel so he did. God changed Jacob's name to Israel. Rachael had Joseph and after Benjamin was born, she died. Israel's sons were 12 tribes.
    Gen 36 tells of Esau's descendants and of the kings that ruled before any Israelite kings ruled.
    Gen. 37 Joseph was Israel's favorite son. Joseph's brothers hated him because his father loved him more. His father made him a coat of many colors. Joseph dreamed that his brothers would bow down to him. When the brothers heard his dreams, they hated him more. Israel sent Joseph to see about his brothers who were tending flocks in another place. Reuben, his brother, talked the other brothers out of killing Joseph. He said, lets throw him in a pit. Reuben planned to go get him out of the pit when his brothers didn't know. The brothers took his coat and threw him in a pit. The they sold him to the Midianite merchants, who took Joseph to Egypt. When Ruben came back to get him from the pit, he was gone. They had dipped his coat in goats blood and took it to his father and showed it to him. He thought that a wild beast must have devoured him. He mourned for his son, Joseph, and could not be comforted.
    Day 25 ---
    Genesis 38-40 (read 06/30/06)  Gen. 38 Judah left his brothers and got married. His wife had 3 sons. The name of one of the sons was Er. When Er had a son, he was wicked in the Lord's eyes so the Lord put him to death. Judah told Er's brother to sleep with Er's wife so she could have children for Er. When the brother did sleep with her, he spilled his semen on the ground. This was wicked in the eyes of the Lord so the brother died. Judah told his daughter in law, Tamar, to live as a widow until his other son grew up. She put on widows clothes and went to live at her father's house.
    Judah's wife died. When he was done grieving he went up to a town where his men were shearing his sheep. When his daughter in law found out, she put a veil over her face and sat at the gate of that town and posed as a prostitute. She was in disguise so her father in law didn't know her. He offered her a sheep to sleep with him and she accepted but wanted something to keep just in case he didn't' come back with the sheep. She asked for his seal and cord and staff. He left it with her. She slept with him and got pregnant. When the men came to deliver her sheep, she was gone. 3 months later, men came to Judah and told him that his daughter in law had been doing prostitution. When she brought the seal, cord and staff to him, Judah said that she was more righteous than him because he didn't give her his younger son to have a child with. Judah's daughter in law had twins. During the birth, one stuck out his hand and the woman that delivered the baby tied a red string around it. The baby drew it back in and the other twin came first. Gen 39 Joseph, Judah's brother, was sold in Egypt to the one of Pharaoh's officials. The Lord was with him and blessed whatever he did so the official put Joseph in charge of all his household and everything he owned. Joseph was handsome so the official's wife enticed Joseph to sleep with her but he wouldn't because he didn't want to sin against the Lord or to take advantage of his Egyptian master. One day she grabbed him and he ran and as he did, he ran off and left his cloak in her hand. Then she told that he tried to rape her and when she screamed for help he ran and left his cloak. The Egyptian master was angry with Joseph and put him in prison. But the Lord was with him again and the prison warden put Joseph in charge of everything there. Gen 40 Two of Pharaoh's servants were in prison with Joseph and they each had a dream that Joseph interpreted. Joseph told one that he would be restored to his position with Pharaoh and Joseph asked him to remember him when he was restored. The other, Joseph interpreted that he would be hanged. It came to pass one was hanged but the one that was restored didn't remember Joseph or put in a good word for him with Pharaoh.
    Day 26 ---
    Genesis 41-42 (read 67/1/06) Gen 41. After 2 years, the Pharaoh had dreams and no one could interpret them. Then the man finally remembered Joseph and told Pharaoh about him. Joseph interpreted the dreams and Pharaoh made him second in command over the whole land of Egypt. The dreams had foretold 7 years of plenty and then 6 years of famine. When the 7 years of famine came, Joseph and stored up enough grain for Egypt and the lands around Egypt.
    Gen 42.. The famine was in the land of Canaan, where Joseph's father and brother were. Joseph's brothers, all except Benjamin, went to Joseph to ask for grain. When Joseph saw them he recognized them but they didn't recognize him. Joseph accused them of being spies. He kept one of the brothers and sent the others back to bring the youngest brother, Benjamin to him. He filled their sacks with grain and put their money back into their sack without them knowing. They were afraid when the found their money was put back in their sacks.
    Day 27 ---
    Genesis 43-45 (read 07/02/06) Again their father sent them back to Egypt to get more food. They took the silver that they had found in their sacks and more for food and gifts for Joseph and they took their brother Benjamin because Joseph had said not to come without him. Joseph had a meal prepared for them at his home.
    Gen 44 Joseph told his servant to put the food and silver they had brought into the brothers sacks and  cup that Joseph used into Benjamin's sack. Then sent them on their way home. Joseph sent his men to catch up with the brothers and accuse them of stealing his silver cup. When they found it, they took to brothers back to Joseph. The brothers begged for him not to keep Benjamin as a slave, saying it would kill their father because he loved Benjamin so much. Gen 45 Joseph finally let his brothers know who is was and wept and embraced his brothers. Pharaoh heard and sent word for Joseph's father and brothers and all his family to come and live in the best part of Egypt so they could be fed. and sent new clothes for them silver for his father. Joseph's father was revived and said he would go to see his son.
    Day 28 ---
    Genesis 46-47  Gen 46. God told Jacob to go down to Egypt and take his people and belongings. Joseph met him and briefed him on how to answer Pharaoh.  Gen 47.  Jacob settled in Goshen and Pharaoh gave them food. The people of Egypt and Canaan had used up all the money but still needed food so Joseph told them to bring their livestock to pay for food.  After the livestock was gone, there was nothing to pay for food except their land and themselves. So they sold their land and put themselves into the bondage of Pharaoh. Jacob lived in Egypt for seventeen years and felt that it was time for him to die. He made Joseph promise not to bury him in Egypt but take him back to Canaan to bury him.
    Day 29 ---
    Genesis 48-50  (Read 7/12/2006) 48 Jacob (Israel) was old and he blessed Joseph's son, Ephraim by putting his right hand on his head instead of Manasseh, the first born. 49 Israel blessed all his sons (the 12 tribes of Israel), and then died. 50 Israel died and was taken to Canaan just as he had made Joseph promise. Pharaoh's men with him to take him there. Joseph's brothers were afraid Joseph would remember what they had done to him and told him that their father wanted Joseph to forgive them and not harm them. Joseph reassured them spoke kindly to them. When it came time for Joseph to die, he told his brothers to take his bones up out of Egypt. When he died, they embalmed him and put him in a coffin in Egypt.

    Day 30 ---
    Exodus 1-3  (Read 7/14/2006) After Joseph and all those generations died, the Israelites multiplied and became exceedingly numerous. The new Pharaoh of Egypt didn't know Joseph or anything about his family. He just noticed how large the number of Israelites there was and was afraid that if they ever went to war, there were so many, they might overpower Egypt. Pharaoh put slave masters over the Israelites and oppressed them and made slaves of the Israelites. It seems the more they were oppressed, the stronger they became and multiplied more. There were midwives that helped during childbirth of the Israelites. The new Pharaoh ordered the midwives to kill the boy babies when the were born. The midwives feared God and let the boys live. When the Pharaoh asked the midwives about it, they said that the Hebrew women were vigorous and gave birth before the midwives even arrived to help. The Pharaoh ordered the boys to be thrown into the river, Nile.
    2 A baby boy was born, one of the descendants of Levi. His mother did not throw him in the river, but kept him home until he was getting to old to hide. She made a basket and fixed it so it wouldn't sink and put him in it. The baby's older sister watched as it floated along the Nile. Pharaoh's daughter found it. She recognized it was a Hebrew baby and felt sorry for him. The baby's sister asked Pharaoh's daughter if she would like a Hebrew woman to nurse the baby and she did. She took the baby to his own mother to nurse. When the baby was older, he was taken back to Pharaoh's daughter. She named him Moses..
    When Moses grew up, he went out to see his own people. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew slave. Moses killed the Egyptian and buried him in the sand. He didn't think anyone saw him. Later, the word got back to the Pharaoh what Moses, Pharaoh tried to have Moses killed. Moses had to leave. He went to Midian where he helped the daughters of Reuel by rescuing and watering their sheep. Moses stayed with them and married Zipporah and they had a son, Gershom. After a long time, the king of Egypt died. The Lord heard the cries of the Hebrew slaves and remembered his promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
    3 Moses was tending is father in law, Jethro's sheep when he saw a burning bush and went to take a closer look. Then God spoke to him out of the burning bush and told him to go and lead the children of Israel out of bondage and into a land flowing with milk and honey.
    Day 31 ---
    Exodus 4-6 (read 7/16/2006) God showed Moses how to make miraculous signs to make the Egyptians believe him. Moses argued with God that he was not a good speaker so God told him to take his brother, Aaron with him to do that. So Moses, his wife and sons went back to Egypt.
    Day 32 ---
    Exodus 7-9 (read 8/17/2006 God made plagues come on Egypt, through Moses and Aaron, but each time Pharaoh hardened his heart and would not let the Israelites go.
    Day 33 ---
    Exodus 10-12 (read 8/18/2006) God caused more plagues and finally, the last plague was when the death angel passed over Egypt and the first born of everything and everyone died that didn't observe the Passover. Israelites marked their door facings with the blood of a lamb so their first born's were all safe. Then Pharaoh finally told the children of Israel to leave.
    Day 34 ---
    Exodus 13-15 (read 8/19/2006) When all the Israelites left Egypt, Moses took the bones of Joseph with them as promised by the sons of Israel. When they traveled, God led them. By day, they followed a pillar of cloud and by night, a pillar of fire. When the Israelites were camped at the Red sea, the Egyptians changed their minds and started to go bring the Israelites back to Egypt.  Moses stretched out his hand over the sea and it parted, letting the Israelites go to the other side, on dry land but when the Egyptians were coming through the parted waters, Moses stretched out his hand again and the water went back together and drowned all the Egyptians. When they came to a place to camp, the water was bitter, so Moses threw a chunk of wood into the water and it became sweet.
    Day 35 ---
    Exodus 16-18 (read 8/20/06) God gave the people, manna. It rained this food every morning. The people were to gather 1/10th of an ephah (half a bushel) every day except the 6th day of the week, then they were to gather enough for the 7th day too. The Israelites grumbled because they were thirsty and didn't have any water. So the Lord told Moses to strike a rock and water would come out, and it did. The Israelites were attacked by the Amalekites. During the battle Joshua fought, when Moses held up his hands, Israel was winning. When he let his hands down, the Amelekites were winning. Aaron and Hur held up Moses hands so the Israelites won the battle. Moses father in law, Jethro, came to Moses from his own land and brought Moses sons and wife. When Jethro saw all the Moses was having to do...being judge over all the disputes that the people had, he suggested that Moses have some honest men to help him. From then on, they only took the difficult cases to Moses to judge.

    Day 36 ---
    Exodus 19-21 (Read 8/21/2006)The Israelites camped at the foot of Mount Sinai. God called Moses to come up the mountain but the people where not to touch even the foot of the mountain or they would die. God was in a cloud on the mountain. The people could see the cloud and hear thunder and that made them very afraid. When Moses was on the mountain, God gave him his commandments and laws.
    Day 37 ---
    Exodus 22-24  (Read 8/22/2006) God continues to give his rules to the people. He tells them what to do if certain things happen.  He make a covenant with Moses. Moses and some of the elders went up on the mountain. God told Moses to come on up with him and leave the others so God could give him tablets of stone with the laws and commandments. Moses went up and stayed 40 days and 40 nights. The mountain, at the top where Moses was, looked like a consuming fire.
    Day 38 ---
    Exodus 25-27  (read 8/24/06) God gives the specifics on how to make a sanctuary/tabernacle and all the articles used in the service of the tabernacle. So he can dwell with the people.
    Day 39 ---
    Exodus 28-29  (read 8/25/06) God told Moses to make garments for Aaron and his sons because they were to serve God as priests. and told Moses how to consecrate and ordain them. God told how consecrate the tent and alter.
    Day 40 ---
    Exodus 30-32 God told Moses how to make an incense alter, a washing basin.... how to do things for atonement for entering the holy place. God appointed certain artists and craftspeople to do the work on the tabernacle. God instructs them to observe the Sabbath.  After God gave all these instructions to Moses, he also gave him two tablets of stone with all these things engraved on them. God knew that the people were sinning, down below the mountain and He was about to destroy them, but Moses begged Him not to. The people didn't know what had happened to Moses because he had been gone up on the mountain for so long.  So Aaron helped them make an idol to worship. They pulled off all their gold earrings and jewelry and melted it down and made a golden calf to worship and sacrifice burnt offerings. When Moses finally came down from the mountain and saw what the people were doing, he threw the stone tablets and broke them at the foot of the mountain.
    Day 41 ---
    Exodus 33-35   (Read 9-11-06) God made more stone tablets with his commandments. Threatened to leave the people because they were stiffnecked. Gave specifics on the tabernacle

    Leviticus 8-10 (Read 9-14-06) Moses did the ceremonial things, ordained Aaron and his sons and did burnt offerings. As God had told him to.  Moses assembled the people and they had an offering ritual that God had told them to. After the sacrifices, the glory of the Lord appeared to the people. Fire came out from the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the people shouted with joy and fell on their faces. 2 of Aaron's sons did something unauthorized and the fire consumed them and they died. Aaron stayed silent about it.
    Day 47 ---
    Leviticus 11-13 (Read 10-8-06) God told Moses and Aaron how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between living creatures that may be eaten and those that may not be eaten. He tells how a woman will purify herself after childbirth or period. He tells them how to tell if a skin condition is clean or unclean and how to tell if clothing has mildew and whether to burn it.
    Day 48 ---
    Leviticus 14-15 (read 10-8-06) more on how to handle infectious skin diseases, mildew etc. 15. tells about bodily discharge and ceremonial uncleanliness.
    Day 49 ---
    Leviticus 16-18 (read 10-19-06) God tells Moses how Aaron is to make atonement for his sins and the Israelites. God tells them not to eat blood. God says what is detestable when it comes to sexual relations. He speaks of homosexual relations.
    Day 50 ---
    Leviticus 19-21 (read 10-19-06) God speaks of respecting mother and father, making idols, leaving food in the gardens for gleaners. He speaks of stealing, lying deceiving, slander, bearing grudges, mating things of the same kind. divination or sorcery, cutting bodies and tatoos. Mediums and spiritists. respect elderly. Foreigners.Honesty.  God abhorred these things that the other nations did. He tells what should be done with people who disobey these regulations. He is getting is people ready to go into a new land. He didn't want them to be like the ones who occupied the land before. God told Moses all the rules of the priests. Moses told all this to Aaron and his sons and all the Israelites.
    Day 51 ---
    Leviticus 22-23 (read 10-20-06) God told Moses more regulations to tell the Israelites, and when and how to do the feasts to the Lord.
    Day 52 ---
    Leviticus 24-25 (read 10-20-06) Tells about doing the oil and bread. Also it tell about the son of an Israelite mother and an Egyptian father getting into a fight. He blasphemed the Name and the Lord told them to stone him.  chapter 25 tells how the Israelites are to treat each other according to servants and slaves. 25:25 of the NIV version tells about kin and the buying of property.
    Day 53 ---
    Leviticus 26-27 (read 10/22/06) God tells of the rewards and punishment if the Israelites obey or do not obey Him.  He instructs them further.  These are the commands the LORD gave Moses on Mount Sinai for the Israelites.
    Day 54 --- Numbers 1-2 (read 10/24/06) The first draft. God ordered a census. The men from each tribe who were 20 years old or older were all numbered and totaled, except the tribe of Levi who were to take care of the tabernacle of the Testimony. God tells how to arrange the camps according to the tribes.
    Day 55 ---
    Numbers 3-4 (read 10/26/06) God tells who was responsible for all that had to be taken care of regarding the tent of meeting/tabernacle.
    Day 56 ---
    Numbers 5-6  (read 10/28/06) God is still giving regulations and rules to the Israelites. When a man suspected his wife of sleeping with another man, this chapter 5 tells of a test with bitter water to see if the accusation is true or not. God tells how to make a special vow, a vow of separation to the LORD as a Nazirite. God tells Moses and Aaron how to bless the Israelites by saying " ' "The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you.
    Day 57 ---
    Numbers 7  (read 10/29/06) Twelve days and twelve of the leaders came to bring their offerings. This chapter tells what each one brought.


    Day 58 ---
    Numbers 8-10  (10/30/06) God tells Moses how to face the lamps. The Levites were purified and the Lord claimed them as his own. The Israelites celebrated the passover. There was a cloud that looked like fire that settled over the tabernacle. The Israelites would camp. When the cloud lifted, they set out. They were obeying the Lord. They were to make trumpets and blow different sounds for different occasions. There was an order of how they were to march.
    Day 59 ---
    Numbers 11-13  (11/01/06) The Israelites were craving meat, being tired of the manna that fell for them to eat every day. Moses has too much burden taking care of the whole of Israel so seventy elders were to help him. God promised meat. A wind went from the Lord and blew in quail from the sea, three feet deep and miles around the camp. The Lord was angry and made a plague on the people. Miriam and Aaron talked about Moses and were called up before the cloud that the Lord was in. God was angry and turn Miriam leprous. Moses and Aaron begged God to cure her. He told her to go outside the camp for 7 days. The people waited and didn't travel until she was brought back. Moses sent scouts to the land of Caanan, the same land that God was giving to the Israelites. The scouts said they didn't think they could take the land because the people who lived there were powerful and the cities were large. It was a land flowing with milk and honey but they didn't think they could take it. The Caleb silenced them and said they should go take it.
    Day 60 ---
    Numbers 14-15 - Psalm 90 (read 11/06/06)  The men made a bad report of the land and the people all grumbled against the Lord. So God told them they would wander for 40 years and only 2 of them, Caleb and Joshua, would actually see the new land. Some went to conquer the inhabitants, but the Lord was not with them and they were beat back. He gives more rules offerings. The find a man gathering wood on the Sabbath and God tells them to stone him to death. God tells them to make tassels to remind them of His commands. Psalms 90 Moses prays for the people.
    Day 61 ---
    Numbers 16-17 (read 11/11/06) There were 3 men that rose up against Moses and Aaron. The Lord caused the earth to open and swallow them and all their households and close back so they were no more. Then God caused fire to consume 250 more who were against Moses and Aaron. A plague began and was stopped. The Lord told Moses to get 12 staffs. The one that spouted and even produced almonds was Aaron's. This was to put an end to the grumbling. The Israelites were asking if they were all going to die.
    Day 62 ---
    Numbers 18-20 (read/11/11/06) The Lord gave Aaron his duties and told him what of the things that were devoted to the Lord was his. The Levites and Aaron were the only ones to come near to the tent of meeting. The Lord tell of tithing one-tenth. Chapter 10 tells how to sacrifice and purify an unclean person by water being sprinkled. Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh. There was no water there. The Lord to told Moses to speak to a rock and it would give water. Moses was aggravated with the Israelites for grumbling so much and he struck the rock. Water gushed out of the rock but the Lord told Moses, because he had not honored him in the bringing of the water, that he would not bring the children of Israel into the land that was promised. Moses asked the king of Edom to let the Israelites pass through that land, but the Kind said no. Again Moses asked but Edom said no, they may not pass so Israel turned away from them. Aaron died up on Mount Hor. Israel mourned for him for 30 days. His garments were put on Aaron's son Eleazar.
    Day 63 ---
    Numbers 21-22  (read 12/18/06) God helped the Israelites to take possession of land by winning battles.
    One man went out to see certain people. He was riding his donkey. An angel stood in the way with is sword drawn and the donkey turned away each time the angel appeared.

    Numbers 26-27 (read(1/9/97) another census. God appointed Joshua as the leader to take the place of Moses and lead the children of Israel to their new land.

    Numbers 28-30  (read 1/9/07) God instructs on offerings, when, how, how much and what to make as an offering. He specifically says to make sure they are without defects. It was very complicated and tedious. There was much to be remembered and observed. I understand why the people needed priests to do their sacrifices and atonements.

    Joshua 1-4   (read 4/19/07)God puts Joshua in charge of the Israelites. 2....They sent out spies and woman hid the spies on her roof. She told them how she feared them because of all God did for them. She tied a cord in the window as a sign not to harm her and those that dwell in that house. 3....When the priests carried the Ark of the covenant into the Jordan river, the water stopped running and became dry ground.  4...the people went across the river and picked up rocks, according to the 12 tribes of Israel. When they were all across on dry land, the priests carried the ark on and the river started running again.
    Day 83 ---
    Joshua 5-8 (read 4/19/07) 5 There was another circumcision of males. The manna stopped and the people ate from the produce of Cannan. When Joshua was near Jericho, there was a soldier in the road with his sword drawn. He was from the army of the Lord. He told Joshua to take off his shoes because he was on holy ground and he did. 6 He told him how to march around the city 6 days and blow trumpets and shout at a certain time on the 7th day, and the wall of the city would collapse. And it did. and they took over the city. Joshua spared the life of the woman who hid the spies and her family. 7 Joshua sent spies to look at a city called Ai. They came back and said that it could be taken with two or three thousand men. But when they went some where killed. The Lord told Joshua, Israel had sinned and took things that were devoted. to remove the devoted things that they shouldn't have taken. Joshua's son was one who took some things. His son was stoned to death. 8: God told Joshua to ambush the city of Ai and set it on fire. When they met in battle, Israel fled and Ai pursued the Israel soldiers and left the city unguarded. When Joshua held out his javelin, the men from the ambush rushed and took over the city and set it on fire. Israel did carry off the livestock and plunder because the God told them to this time.
    Day 84 ---
    Joshua 9-11  (read 4/24/07) Joshua 9: One of the countries, Gibeon, near, heard about how God had been on the side of the Israelites and let on like they had traveled a long way to make a treaty with the Israelites. The Israelites ask for God's guidance on that, but went ahead and promised not to kill them. Instead, they became servants to the Israelites. Joshua 10: Other countries, 5 kings, heard about the treaty and attacked Gibeon but Israel took up for them. The Lord was with them. Hail fell and killed. The sun stood still and moon stopped during the battle until Joshua won the battle. The Kings hid in a cave until Joshua asked for them to be brought to him. The kings were hanged and their bodies thrown back into the caves where they were hiding. Joshua took all the countries and their kings and left no survivors, just as God had commanded. Joshua 11: The king of Hazor heard about it and attacked Israel. But God made Israel strong and they destroyed Hazor completely. Joshua destroyed the people and took all the land that God had promised. Then the land had rest from war.
    Day 85 ---
    Joshua 12-15 (read 4/27/07) 12 gives a list of the king that was taken over. God told Joshua he is old but still needs to take over a lot more land. God said he would take over part of the land for the Israelites. Some of the land still had it's original inhabitants and they lived there. One of the spies that was sent out earlier came to Joshua and told him that Moses had promised him a certain land for following the Lord with his heart. and he was given Hebron. 15 gives the boundaries of allotments of land and towns
    Day 86 ---
    Joshua 16-18 (read 4/27/07) More boundaries and inheritances of land and towns. Some of the original inhabitance remained but were forced to do labor. More territories, boundaries etc. The people of Joseph said they were many and needed more and Joshua gave them the hill country and forest and told them to drive out the Canaanites and use the land for themselves. The tribe of Benjamin inherited Jerusalem.
    Day 87 ---
    Joshua 19-21 (read 4/27/07) More allotments of territories and boundaries. God told Joshua to designate cities of refuge where one could go for protection until he gets a trial. The Levities approached and said they were due towns to live in and pasture for livestock So they were given that out of other's inheritance. The Lord gave them all he had promised the forefathers and gave them rest.
    Day 88 ---
    Joshua 22-24  (read 4/27/07) The Reubenites and the Gadites built a replica alter, like the original one. The other tribes thought it was in rebelion or disobedience and wanted to go to war. But they said it wasn't. It was built as a witness and not of burnt offerings. They all decided it was not an unfaithful act. And the Reubenites and the Gadites gave the altar this name: A Witness Between Us that the LORD is God. When Joshua was old he gathered the people. Told them to be sure obey the things that were written in the laws of Moses. Not to intermarry with other inhabitants. Not to bow down to their gods. Joshua assembles the people and tells them what God has done for them all down through the generations. Tells them to choose to serve. Joshua said "as me me and my house, we will serve the Lord". The people said "we too will serve the Lord". And Joshua made a covenant with them. He set a stone to be a witness. Joshua died.
    Also Joseph's bones that were carried out of Egypt was buried in the promised land.

    Day 89 ---
    Judges 1-2 (read 4/28/07) God appointed the men of Judah to fight for the land and cities. This chapter tells of some of the cities that were taked over by Judah. 2. The people disobeyed what the Lord had told them so he didn't drive out some of the people and said that they would be a thorn in their side. Generations past and the later generation didn't know about the Lord and what he had done for the Israelites. They worshiped other gods. God handed them over to their enemies. The Lord maded judges for the people. but they violated the covenent of the forefatheres. So the Lord stopped driving out their enemies.
    Day 90 ---
    Judges 3-5 (read 4/29/07) 3 The Israelites married the inhabitants of other lands worshipped other gods. Since they disobeyed, God put them into the hands of enemies for 8 years. When when they cried out, the Lord gave them a deliverer who was Caleb's younger brother. Then the land had peace for 40 years until he died. The Israelites did wrong again and God made them to be under the power of the King of Moab for 18 years. They cried out again and the Lord gave them a left-handed man of Benjamin's desendents. His name was Ehud. He made a double-edged sword and straped it to his right side. He was talking to him in room. He told the kink of Moab that he had a secret message for him. The King excused his servants. When they were gone, Ehud told him the message was from the Lord. Then he drew his sword with his left hand and plunged it into the kings belly, all the way through, burrying the handle into his fat stomach and the blade was sticking out his back. Ehud left the sword in the kings body and there was so much fat, it just sort of swallowed up the sword. Ehud went out on the porch and closed the doors and locked them after him. When the servants tried to open the door they found them locked so they though the king was just in the restroom. It was such a long time they were embarrassed and unlocked the doors and found him dead. Ehud had slipped away while the servants were waiting. Ehud went and gathered the people then, and took over Moab and became rulers over that country. They had peace for 80 years. Then there was Shamgar who killed six hundred Philistines with an oxgoad.
    After Ehud died, the Israelites did evil again. So the Lord put them into the hands of Jabin, a King of Canaan. They were oppressed for 20 years. Deborah was the leader of Israel at that time. She told Barak a plan to ambush Jabins army. Deborah went with Barak to Kadesh. When the time came she told Barak to go fight. The commander of the enemy army was Sisera. When battle started, Sisera got out of his chariot and ran on foot to the tent of Jael, who was the wife of a Kenite. She covered him. He said he was thirsty and she gave him a drink. When he went to sleep from exhaustion, she got a tent peg and drove it through his temple. Barak came by trying to find Sisera and she showed him lying there with a peg through his temple, dead.
    Israel grew stronger against Jabin and destroyed him. On that day Deborah and Barak son of Abinoam sang. Then there was peace for 40 years.
